Hi all,
I am new here but wanted some advice

Has anybody started the abortion process with bpas since the covid pandemic? Is surgical abortion an option under 10 weeks or only medical?

Thank you x

If you ring them up they are really kind and helpful

I have started this process during Covid with Marie Stopes but used the pills so was all remote

Hi claire I cant speak for bpas I used maire stopes but I had the exact same question as you. Maire stopes wouldn't allow a surgical under 10 weeks to reduce risk of interaction and also because of lack of staff. They apologised for taking this option away and explained how they felt uncomfortable not being able to offer all choices for women during this hard time, but I do understand their reasons. Maybe bpas will be different but most abortion clinics are pushing for tablets to be sent home for the safety of you and everyone involved. Best bet is to give them a call and when you get a telephone consultation all will be explained

I don’t know for definite but I had an early surgical termination with bpas the week before lockdown and I know they were starting to have big issues with staffing and were having to cancel appointments for the following day due to one of the surgeons self isolating. The staff were really concerned about the knock on effects. Wishing you all the best.
