Medical abortion or sedation

I have just been to bpas and I am 8 weeks pregnant. I wanted general anaesthetic but they told me I can’t have it and they stopped doing generals.

I don’t want the pill because of the pain, blood and seeing the foetus pass, but I think being awake during surgery and hearing all the sounds of the suction will traumatise me. I already am scared of surgery and have anxiety.

They just told me to go away and think about it. Can someone help me! I don’t know what to do. I am scared and depressed.

Hiya! I had a surgical with conscious sedation back in Nov , I really didn’t want to have the termination so I don’t think I cld have ever gone medical route

I was actually saying to a friend last night that I thank god I had the sedation because without it I would have probably been traumatised but having the sedation has given me little memory of what actually happened & although i did hear sounds etc it felt like one minute they were putting the sedation in & the next they were telling me it was over and getting taken to recovery.

I found Bpas to be very professional & empathetic & take really good care of you please don’t be scared if its 100 % what you want to do xx

I had an abortion with sedation a few years back. All I can remember is the room where I got the drugs and then waking up after. I don't remember any of of the procedure. I was at 7 weeks and pretty much like you couldn't deal with the all blood situation with the pills. Having say this, I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks last year and it wasn't as bloody as I could imagine. But everyone is different and 8 weeks in your case might be very different again.
Worth the conscious sedation, you shouldn't remember much and I believe our brain are well trained to forget all about it as well. Hope it's been helpful.

I had surgical abortion awake no sedation
It was over with so quick I didt even realise they had started .. and also had minimal bleeding . A lot of people I know who have had the pill have haemorrhaged afterwards and needed surgery anyway. My sister had sedation last year and she said she don't remember it at all so if anything go with sedation or without . I have aniexty too! Didt sleep for weeks but it was all over so quick

Good luck with whatever you choose x
