Unplanned pregnancy

Hello,

I’m new to mums net. I’ve just found out I am pregnant, it’s unplanned and I’m in a bit of a panic and have come to the internet for advice. I just did the test at work this morning so I’ve not even had a chance to speak to my partner yet.

I’ve just recently start eating healthier and got myself into a good routine in the gym. I am obese so trying to lose weight. I am absolutely terrified about the fact if I continue with the pregnancy it would be a high risk because of my weight.

Is it safe to continue to lose weight while pregnant? I need to lose 5 stone to be the top end of healthy range for my height. I obviously don’t expect to lose that much during a pregnancy but just to give you an idea of where I am at.

Only time I’ve had unprotected is 27th December which makes me 1-2 weeks and I’m also worried that I partied a lot over the Christmas holidays. I have booked an appointment with my GP who I know will be able to advise but it’s not until next week.

I know this is totally my own fault but I am in such a panic, we do want kids but not yet. I wanted to sort my life out a bit first. I feel so awful for even considering a termination I have a friend going through IVF ☹

I need the working day to hurry up and be over so I can get home and talk to my partner

Drinking doesn’t effect an embryo much in the very early stages as this is before it is receiving what you ingest through the placenta

There’s never a perfect time to have a baby!

It’s worth asking midwife about weight loss while pregnant but I think it would be fine providing you keep up with good nutrition and don’t overdo it at gym

Hope it went ok with partner! X

It did thank you, he is really happy. We have an appointment next Friday with the GP.

I'm still worried about the financial side of it, i've requested a copy of my maternity policy from work and we will speak to family after our appointment to see if they can help out with childcare, and then go from there x

Sounds like a plan! Yeah finance can be a bit of a headache but your thinking ahead and planning so that’s good. All the best and congratulations xx
