9 weeks BPAS termination, what to expect

I'm due to have my termination on the 27th and I will be nine weeks to the day (I think). I've opted for medical with treatment the same day. I assume I will be given the first set of pills on the day and I have to wait to take the next ones? Is this correct? Can I not take them at the same time? The only other date they can offer is the 23rd (I would be still 8 weeks), but I don't really want to be losing it on Christmas or boxing day and I believe I have to take the tablets at least 48 hours to induce me losing it. Would love some advice and support as i'm doing this alone. Thanks

Hi lovely,

I had a medical termination appointment last Wednesday, I was 8 weeks exactly when she scanned me, she gave me the first tablet in clinic and told me to take the second set either 24 or 48 hours later. I chose to take the second set of tablets on Thursday at around 7:30pm, although you could take them earlier in the day if you took the 23rd appointment and wanted the worst to be over before Christmas. It took around 10 minutes to start bleeding but the more severe cramps started around 2 hours later and lasted until I passed the actual pregnancy around midnight. Since then the pain has been no more than mild period cramps and similar to period bleeding but with slightly more clots (tmi!) I would say the 23rd appointment is doable if you take the tablets early on the 24th aslong as you don't mind bleeding over Christmas.

Good luck :)

Thank you so much for replying. I spoke to BPAS and they said I had to wait 24 hours minimum to take the tablets which would mean taking them xmas eve at 4pm. As much as I don't want to wait any longer, its probably more practical. How was the pain?

I'm not going to lie, the pain before I passed the pregnancy was bad but it only lasted a few hours. Since then I've had nothing but mild cramps. One thing I wish that I'd done is to start taking the painkillers a few hours before taking the second set to let them build up in your system

How soon after taking the second tablets did the pain start? I'll make sure I take some earlier. How long did the bleeding last?

I'd say that the bad pain started around 2/2 and a half hours after. I took the tablets on Thursday night and I'm still bleeding now, although I'd say it's the same amount as my normal period right now

Hugs to you too! Honestly it wasn't as bad as I was expecting at all, you read so many horror stories and the overthinking beforehand was definitely the worst bit for me.

I read your other post too, I truly hope you get away from your situation safely! Feel free to message me if you ever need support from someone
