Hi, so im pregnant with 3rd baby I am epileptic and on medication. My partner wants me to get an abortion as we already have two kids under 5, there is risks involved because of my medication and also the lack of sleep, stress etc, I didn't start having tonic colonic seizures untill my youngest was 1 and a half and then started medication I have weighed up the pros and cons and the cons outweigh the pros massively, but i can't help but wounder if i should risk my health and the baby's when I already have two perfect healthy children I've been seizure free since starting my new medication 3 months ago but the last 3 days have had lots of absent seizures which I'm assuming is down to being about 5 weeks pregnant

What do you want to do? Most terminations are taken by women who have already have children.

Well im booked in for my first abortion tablet tomorrow but i am terrified of birth defects, miscarriage and having seizures that could harm me or the baby, or have my seizures get worse after its born with the stress and lack of sleep my seizures are nocturnal so they are pretty high risk and my partner works night shift once a month, I'm just so torn I feel an abortion is safest but just can't help but think it's a baby if that makes sense

Aww poor you that sounds immensely stressful. It sounds so tough, have you spoken to a doctor or midwife about taking the medication whilst pregnant? How were your other two pregnancies and births whilst dealing with epilepsy?

Stress and anxiety are triggers for epilepsy and abortion can make it trigger plus all the emotional strain it puts. It's harder when you're pushed for it too and deep down you want to keep the baby. What about adoption? With adoption it buys you more time, you can always change your mind and have the baby yourself. I have heard of someone whose mother took the medication whilst pregnant and they weren't born with birth defects and another mum who had twins and stayed on the meds and both her babies are healthy other than spending time in the NICU. Are there any family members who live close by who can help? Hoping you get all the love and support you need

I wasn't taking any medication because I only had absent seizures where I'd feel like something bad was going to happen abit like dejavu they only lasted a couple minutes, it wasn't till my now 2 year old was 1 and a half they got worst were would be asleep and stiffen up and and have ones where o would froth at the mouth lasting about 5 minutes are more but if my partner was on nightshift I would know if had it untill my muscles were aching a few days later, I couldn't give it away if i had it, I know i wouldn't be able to, my partners worried about what the added stess would do and I've wondered on to roads with the pram and spilt hot drinks down myself etc so i can see why hes concerned and he says he's happy with our familey and we chose to have them close together so we could get the baby stage out the way and start just doing familey holidays and stuff, I knownif I go ahead with it it's for the right reasons but i still have doubts
