Surgical - recovery time

Hi all,

Looking for advice here. Having a surgical termination in 1.5 weeks when I’ll be over 8 weeks pregnant. I’m starting a new job and need to take a day off midweek and then hopefully go into work the next day.

I’ve been given tablets for severe morning sickness by my GP as my BP was low and I wasn’t eating much. Please could anyone advise on recovery time after my termination. How long before my boobs stop hurting? Will I have cramps the day after (when I’ll be back in work)? What can I expect?

Thanks all xxx

I had a surgical termination (years ago) late in the afternoon and went back to work the next morning. I just had a bit of cramping and light bleeding. I took ibuprofen which calmed it down but it honestly wasn't too bad at all. My symptoms disappeared within a week. It can take time for your HcG levels to go back to zero. Hope you're OK? I will keep an eye on this thread if you need to talk. Xx

Thanks @GrannySquares you’ve confirmed what I thought. The nurse was really helpful when I was at the hospital and gave me some good advice. I feel fine with my decision but my body just feels awful. At this stage, I’m not sure I’ll ever want to have kids which is sad.

Seriously^ this is the second time I’ve seen you recommend pregnancy matters. They explicitly push an anti abortion agenda, but you’re failing to give warning of this.

It’s actually gross that you’re pushing emotionally manipulative ‘advice’ to women in vulnerable situations.

You should be fine to go to work the following day and pregnancy symptoms will resolve / disappear quickly - same day to 48hrs .

Thank you everyone. Really appreciated.

@Mum2babygirl I’m secure in my choice, and I’ve really thought about it and the impact on me. Thanks for the recommendation!

Hi, did you go ahead with the termination? How was it afterwards? I'm asking for a friend who is going to be having a surgical termination but she is a few weeks further along than you were. You can pm me if you prefer. Thank you xx
