Positive test after abortion??

Hi i recently had a medical abortion. It hasnt been easy to say the least and now to complicate matters even more i took my hcg test as instructed to do so 2 weeks post the abortion to conclude it has been successful and a second line appeared. The line was faint and small in comparison to the control line but defiently there. I took another normal pregnancy test and that came up a strong yes. So i called the clinic where i recieved treatment and they have booked me in for a scan but thats not until next week. Im very stressed and confused. Is there a chance the pregnancy is still continuing? Im aware it could just be the remaining hormone level in my body but generally the hcg test provided by the clinic should come back negative by the time frame they tell you take it in. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what was the outcome? Its even harder for me because i was always half and half about my abortion and now knowing there mayne a possibility its still there no matter how small is messing with my head. In all honesty i just want this all to be over with but it seems never ending!

That is a massive head fuck. It's a shame you cant get a scan sooner, have you said you'd take a cancellation if one happens before your scheduled appointment. Anything to hurry it along.

@KindleAndCake i was told to talk to the nurse however when I called the clinic the receptionist decided to make an appointment for me so that didn't happen. I'm quite concerned because I'm still getting bad cramping I'm bleeding that's more than just spotting. Considering I have a positive pregnancy test I'd like to know what's going on really. I did ask if that was the soonest appointment available so that is the quickest I can be seen. However given everything I'm wondering if it's better to go to A&E as they may be able to do a scan for me I just don't want to be sitting in there for hours and hours on end.

Just want to give an update incase anyone comes across this. I went to a&e just to be on the safe side, had plenty of checks done including bloods and urine and swabs. Im showing no classic signs of infections (fevers ect) and everything felt fine to the gynecologist. Bleeding is normal and to be expected for up to 3 weeks post abortion the only time it raises concern is if there is heavy clotting or going through 3 plus pads. From my bloods they were able to tell my hcg level had reduced significantly from 1900 to 500. Meaning my body was on the right track. The gynecologist also did a pregnancy test to which it came back a faint positive (what they call false positives) and told me even if you have the hcg count of 50 a urine pregnancy test will pick that up so it doesnt mean anything. Im not quite sure as to why termination clinics get women to do their tests two weeks after the procedure when its so early on and the possibility of hormone levels being high, but to anyone that is reading this if your in the same sitation try not to fret like i did. It most likely is fine as long as your experiencing symptoms of infection or having persisting pain. Try to wait it out for another 2 weeks and take a pregnancy test whilst consulting with whoever you had your abortion with for a booked in scan.
