Should I tell my husband about MAP?

Had a blip yesterday. I don't want anymore children but he is against taking MAP/abortions and told me not to take anything as I was about to go chemist to get it. I didn't, but I've already planned to quickly go chemist after work and get MAP. Am I wrong to take it without the consent of my husband? I honestly do not want to get pregnant! I feel like I am going against his wishes :(

I would take it and not tell him. He won't need to know, jus assume you were lucky and didn't get pregnant. Does he want more children?

Take the MAP, it's your body. He's not the one who has to put his body through pregnancy, labour and the aftermath. I wouldn't tell him either.

You don't need his consent. It's not his body. You don't have to follow his wishes, either. It is your choice.

Is this a one off or are there other areas of your life where this kind of thing happens?

avalanching · 25/07/2019 12:50

His wishes? Is this fucking Gilead? Your body, end of bloody story. If he doesn't support what you do with your own body tell him to shove his dick in somebody else's orifice.

Ha it's always the ones who are against MAPs who some how wont pull out or use a condom either isn't it.

Take it. And dont tell him. And run a mile before you have 6 plus children and cant leave.

Go and get it. Do not tell him. Map is not remotely the same thing as a termination and he is ridiculous to suggest that.

You can go to the pharmacy and pay for it if you do not want to have to answer the questions with the pharmacist.

Personally, I would consider your contraceptive options if your DH is like this. Perhaps the injection is a safe way for you if he is controlling in other ways?

SleepingStandingUp · 25/07/2019 12:59

Op you don't need his permission to do things to your body. Would you ask his permission to take paracetamol? No. It's the same thing. It is at most a ball of cells right now, that's all. Altho I should add he also has no power to forbid an abortion either.

Do you have kids? What was the blip? Do you think he's trying to trick you into a baby? Is he otherwise controlling?

Agree with pp, pls look into long term contraception he can't screw with

StressyDressyHeels · 25/07/2019 13:00

MAP is not comparable to an abortion. Absolutely take it if you want to.

CupoTeap · 25/07/2019 14:01

Take it, whether you tell him is a different issue.

How are you going to prevent the need for it again?

tosayitornot · 25/07/2019 18:57

Thanks everyone. This blip was because we didn't use a condom! My fault as well as his.

I went and got it. I've taken it now as well so keeping my fingers crossed! I've decided not to tell him. It's not going to do anything. Hopefully my period comes and will take proper precautions next time!

Thanks everyone again for your support and advice. Thanks

Glad you went ahead, it’s your body that has to face the consequences so entirely your choice.

tosayitornot · 27/07/2019 17:17

Thanks. I just hope it works. I've been a massive moody cow since taking it so it must be the massive amounts of hormones my body has to handle in one hit.
