Line eyes... After abortion.

It has been 16 days since I had a termination, using the pills at home. I passed lots of large clots on the first day and have been bleeding since then, but less than a normal period.

I took the pregnancy test supplied by the clinic today, as advised and there is a faint faint line there. Its a special type of test, especially for after an abortion.

I will obviously phone the clinic tomorrow, but in the meantime has anybody experienced this - is it possible the hormones in my body are still quite high and still being faintly detected by the test?

I can't still be pregnant as I would be 9 weeks ish by now so the line would have been super dark.

Hey! I had a termination at the beginning of May and at the end of May there was still a faint faint line. My period arrived the first week of June and that’s when the test went negative then. Don’t worry about it, it’s only just over 2 weeks! Mine took over a month. You’ll be fine, don’t worry. On my discharge letter it said to contact the clinic if it was faint in 4 weeks time, so I did and they said wait until my period arrives and as long as it’s going fainter it’ll be fine. Xx

Mine was still positive for 5 weeks afterwards. Went back for a scan last week, I have retained products that will probably pass in my next period.

25 days now and still getting a line

I'll give it another week and then call the clinic I guess.

@Samaranian im in the exact same situation as you. I was instructed to take the test two weeks after and found it came up with a second faint line and then took another take pregnancy test and that came up as a strong positive. It's just been over a little of two weeks now I'm racking my brain trying to figure it out as well and workout if it means anything. It's quite confusing as some people would say that your hormone levels don't settle for quite a while afterwards so the results may not be true, then on the other hand the test provided by the clinic is a specific type that that detects hCG levels so it should be accurate at this point. I would advise you to do the same as I have and put yourself out of the torture of the waiting game and simply ring up your clinic as soon as. They will most likely bring you in for a scan and that will give you a definite answer no questions asked. I don't know how likely it is for a continuing pregnancy after an abortion, but it can happen or it could possibly be retained tissue or simply just hormones either way you should try and ring your clinic to inform them and get the answer as not to scare you but if you are pregnant the sooner you know the better and if it is retained tissue again for your health it's better found out sooner rather than later. This was my test 24 days after the abortion if it makes you feel better. I’d say definitely when it’s been 4 weeks ring the clinic but even sometimes they say that it’ll go down and if you have to go back for a scan they make you redo a test on that morning before you go cause one day the test could be positive and the next day not x makes sure you’re doing it with first morning wee as well x

Hi did you go back to the clinic? I’m in the same situation will be 6 weeks in 4 days since surgical abortion. I was 6 +6 days. I never bled after procedure but had a period when due. Had positive tests since I know it’s not a new pregnancy. Dr has done hcg levels and still high, I’m not feeling ill so not sure if retained tissue. Clinic haven’t been much help at all. Had scan 4 weeks after procedure as was still positive and it was inconclusive so had interval one they were so unprofessional just sent me away with more tests! Still no further forward until I go back next week. Any help/advice appreciated
