Copper IUD and excessive bleeding

Hi, not sure if I’m in the right place here but I need some help! On Monday 7th jan I had the nova t380 copper coil fitted. Insertion was painful but I managed, I’ve never had kids. The first day was painful walking, standing, sitting sometimes even laying was a struggle. The second day I didn’t go into work as it was still very painful, this is when the bleeding got quite bad too. I understood a couple days of spotting were normal. After about 5 days the pain was still tere and I was still bleeding quite a lot. A week later on Monday 14th the pain had almost completely gone and the bleeding was very minimal it was brown (like “old” blood?) Now whenever I sit (putting pressure on my abdomen/uterus area) I have a very dull ache , like bad period pains and i start bleeding bright red blood?. It’s now Wednesday 16th so almost a week and a half later and I’m bleeding the same as when it was first fittted and still having pains. Has anyone had these problems before? I have my first check up in a few weeks should I just see it through until then or is it worth calling them? Thankyou!

This doesn't sound at all right to me. I've had two coils (albeit after kids) and only experienced a tiny bit of mild cramping immediately after insertion. My sister had one pre-kids and her experience was similar to mine, although the actual insertion hurt more (briefly). I believe that perforation can be a slight possibility... certainly don't want to panic you but I would get checked out (and emphasise how bad things are) if only to get checked and rule out anything having gone wrong. Please don't suffer without getting checked.

Bleeding and pain finally stopped earlier this week, around Tuesday. Which makes it two weeks and one day. All is fine now (I hope) , I’m just a major hypochondriac and panic at every thing. I’m gonna fetch it all up at my check up and hope for the best cause I really want this method of contraception to work for me
