Post medical abortion

I had a medical abortion 15 days ago, they told me to take a pregnancy test 3 weeks after the abortion and if it was still coming up as positive to book in with them to be re scanned. Well I probably shouldn't have but I had a few spare tests lying around so I took one today and the lines were stronger than ever, it's now playing on my mind that something may have gone wrong or it may be incomplete. Has anyone here ever had a positive test 2 weeks after and then a negative one a week later? I'm still bleeding and it varies from being light to heavy but it's not showing signs of stopping. Any advice is welcome

No experience of this myself, but if they told you to wait three weeks, it was probably because doing it sooner would not give a reliable reading. I'd wait another week and do the test 21 days after the abortion, like they said to do, before you get worried that something's wrong. Sorry you have had this experience.

Contact your local gyn department if it remains positive - you could have retained some of the pregnancy tissue, especially if it was over 8 weeks gestation. Hope you’re ok Hun x

I had a termination 14 years ago and had retained products that became infected. If you're worried it might be worth calling your GP for advice?

I had a medical abortion myself. There is a reason they tell you to wait 21 days. Jeez of course it's going to say positive
