I googled and most things say not to. (to be fair I also had to google what microblading even is...)
I would guess that the person doing it would know what the risks are although I would be highly suspicious of their motives if they tried to convince me it 'is perfectly safe during pregnancy'.

Is that where you get your eyebrows sliced into and then ink put in then so the scabs and scars look like you have extra eyebrow hairs??

Branleuse · 31/07/2018 08:55

Cant you just get them threaded and shaped like most people.
I wouldnt do it. You cant get tattooed in pregnancy and i imagine this procedure is probably even less regulated

FeistyOldBat · 31/07/2018 09:22

It's a tattooing technique. Putting ink, containing chemicals you know nothing about - what they are, what side-effects they have, where they come from, whether they've been tested for safety, into your body at such a sensitive time, is probably not a good idea.

I worked in publishing for 12 years, I had to know about types of inks and do know that printing inks, and other inks generally, do contain persistent solid particles as pigment (colour), and can be toxic.

You're probably not getting any expert replies because it's not a well-known subject. Try searching for something like teratogenicity of tattooing inks, and see what results you get, and take into account the sources of those results.

No it’s not recommended as the effects cannot be tested. I would call and cancel the appointment. I have also been told (as I contacted the microblader to ask) that it’s not recommended in pregnancy. Any reputable tattooist would not tattoo a pregnant lady and you’d probably be asked to sign a disclaimer prior.

Sorry while breastfeeding - not pregnancy. Baby brain! So I’m having to wait until I stop breastfeeding to have it done.

EmeraldVillage · 31/07/2018 09:35

I wouldn’t have it done whilst pregnant

MistyMistiness · 31/07/2018 09:35

I wasn't able to get my annual top up whilst I was breastfeeding because of the numbing agent they put on your eyebrows and the risk that it would pass through my system and into my baby's. So I would say that no, it isn't safe during pregnancy. I definitely wouldn't risk it at such an early and vital stage of the pregnancy either. I doubt the person doing the microblading would be insured for pregnant women anyway.

Mammmoo · 31/07/2018 09:40

Another one who can't due to bf. Mine despatayly need topping up but you shouldn't do it while pregnant or breastfeeding. It's not worth the risk.

Got my eyebrows microbladed then found out I was pregnant. What do I do has this happened to anyone??

spugzbunny · 09/04/2019 12:01

@Abiava123 - you should start your own thread as people just read the first post and reply usually.

But ... I'm sure it's fine. The chances of you getting a disease transferred by blood is very very small. Mention it to your midwife at your booking in ... make sure you explain it is like a tattoo. Try to not worry.

Abiava123 · 09/04/2019 12:47

Thank you. Yeah I will say to her but just worried incase it can do something to the baby. Xx
