Medical abortion etc etc

I’m booked in with Marie Stopes for two weeks time and I’m really scared.
I will be 6 weeks from the date I gave them but to be honest I can’t even remember when my last period was. In January I had a mid cycle bleed but that’s the last bleeding I can think of.

If I’m further along than 6 weeks..more like 9...will anything change with regards to the medical termination? I’m so sad.
There’s a chance I’ll be more than 12 isn’t there? I’m paranoid I can feel movement and I’ve been steadily putting lbs here and there over the last few weeks.

God my head is a mess. I’m not sure why I posted. But I’d be grafeful for any support.

Oh I hope you are okay Thanks are you sure you want to do it? I went with a friend once and as we were waiting for her to go in there where so many ladies sitting there with bumps formed it was awful to experience my friend never went through with it after that shell shock of waiting.

they might have to remove it surgically if you are over a certain amount of weeks as the pills won't always work the first time.

I’m not 100% sure if I want to do it but I know I have to.

I’m terrified and I’ve cried every day since I got that positive test

Hi x
I had a termination, it was the right thing to do on paper and I was 8 weeks 3 days (I said to myself if I’m over 10weeks I won’t)
I regret it every single day. If you’re not 100% sure then I think you should really think about your reasons for and against etc

Hi there,
You must tell Marie Stopes that you are not certain about the dates. They can then give you advice about the best course of action. They may need to do a further examination to establish dates to decide what type of abortion is needed.
After @10 weeks of pregnancy the risks of severe bleeding (which can be life threatening) are much higher and the risk of the pregnancy continuing are also higher too.
If you don’t tell them you could end up with a late term abortion or being very ill and hospitalised with a haemorrhage.
Hope this helps.

You can also talk to them about your emotional state and get some further counselling about your decision.

I have 3 children , young still my self .... I contemplated it once in my life time and felt sick after even thinking of it, i wouldn't change my decision or kids for anything now x I hope you do the right thing for ur self, I find the whole talking to family etc abit meh as they always have split decisions push u one way ,are u sure you want to abort is there is a way you could keep the pregnancy going? It is a massive decision only you can make, but the feelings of pregnancy are amazing. I generally thought I couldn't do pregnancy , parenting i wasn't in a good place etc but i come out the other side better than ever, sorry I am rambling on I just don't want you to regret your decision you make. All the best x

Thank you; I already have two young children and there’s no way I can go through with this pregnancy. The timing is all wrong.

I did tell them I was unsure of my dates but they’ve booked me in anyway- I’m worried the scan will show different and delay everything Sad

Don't worry they will give you a scan to determine dates before any treatment is given. AFAIK its 9 weeks 3 days the cut off for a medical abortion, if over that it would need to be surgical.

I'm so sorry you are going through this and that you feel so conflicted. Please know that there is no shame whatsoever in having a termination if that is what you need to do, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Flowers for you OP

They should give you a scan and if you’re too far along for a medical they will book you for a surgical usually a few days after your consultation and scan. They won’t start a medical without scanning you.
