bpas vs Marie Stopes?

I found out I am pregnant last week, still only 4 weeks so quite early. After much thinking and discussion with my husband, an abortion is the best option for us at the moment.

I haven't been to see my doctor yet as the first appointment with them I could get was this Wednesday, however after some Googling I found out you can go direct to an abortion clinic for consultation and proceedure.

I originally rang Marie Stopes who booked me in for a telephone consultation, also on Wednesday. But, after some googling and reading of peoples' experiences with them, they seem to sometimes cancel appointments last minute or be understaffed?

So I rang BPAS for an appointment and they have booked me in for a consultation and treatment in one day on 26th Jan. They could have seen me sooner but it clashed with a family weekend away that I don't particularly want to cancel for an abortion - there would be A LOT of awkward questions/disruption and I want to keep this a secret.

I just want to be seen as soon as possible and get the process done in one visit for minimal disruption to my life and work. I'll be 7 weeks by the 26th and just want it to be over as early as possible, for my peace of mind.

I just wanted to ask whether people think its best to proceed with BPAS or to keep my phone consultation with Marie Stopes? Any other advice appreciated.

I’ve only gone with Marie stopes, the telephone consultant was just about basic medical history and what they recommend in terms of how many weeks you are. Under 10 they recommend medical over 10 surgical etc. However I just said I’d rather the surgical as I could have the coil inserted at the same time and they understood. I could of got in the week after my telephone consultant however my husband is looking after my kids so my friend offered to come with me for support so I based my availability on her really. There’s no reason why you don’t have both and see how you feel about them xx

Jesus Rhythm! The OP is clearly going through a shitty situation have some compassion!

I went with Marie Stopes and they were great, but I guess it depends on each individual clinic.

Sending you hugs to

BPAS were really good. I was fast tracked as I had a TFMR but they did my consultation and treatment on the same day. It's a long day with lots of waiting around. I had surgical treatment as I was keen to get everything done ASAP. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

RhythmStix I've reported your awful post. Have a bit of empathy.

Topaz89 · 07/01/2018 16:51

I went with Marie Stopes and they were good especially at the clinic. The nurse who saw me was lovely.

Rhythm what a pointless post.

YellowLily · 07/01/2018 16:57

I’ve reported Rhythm too. Absolutely no need for that; go away with your judgemental sneery post.

Auspiciouspanda · 07/01/2018 17:02

I went to BPAS for a consultation and termination at the same time when I was 7 weeks. They were extremely lovely, patient and understanding.

The review for Marie stopes put me off too Op.
