I have a coil, I realise it is very unlikely but I've had some symptoms and I'm really worried that I might be pregnant.

I usually have a very heavy period lasting 5 or 6 days. My last one ended a couple of weeks ago, was much lighter than usual and only lasted a couple of days.

Is it worth taking a test now or do I need to wait until my next period would be due?

I bled through my first pregnancy and was on the pill when I conceived so I'm not in a position to rule anything out.

I have been exhausted, moody, tearful, had terrible heartburn and changes in my mood.

I bought two pregnancy tests, the one I did was inconclusive, wondering whether to bother with another one now or to wait.

I don't want to be pregnant so the earlier I can find out the better to give me time to process my options.

Tia

I just read an article about a woman that fell pregnant 4 times whilst on different contraception's so it's entirely possible. She definitely mentioned the coil.

All those symptoms could be linked to the coil if it's relatively new and it's pretty common to end up not bleeding at all whilst on a hormonal coil. I'd wait until your next period is due but I know how hard that will be.

Thanks Mustang, I've had my coil since January 2016 so it's not new. It made my periods much heavier but more regular so this, plus the other symptoms are unusual for me.

I do have anxiety/depression which mivht account for the moodiness but even then it has been extreme recently. I don't want another child, my partner hadn't planned on having one with me but says if it happens, it happens. He would want to keep it and I wouldn't.

If you are pregnant, then waiting until your next period is due will be most sensible. Saying that, I knew I was pregnant despite my doctors telling me it was impossible as my ovaries had stopped working due to premature menopause. I had blood tests, internal ultrasound scans, pissed on more sticks than a forest has, all negative, until one day...yep. Pregnant. I was pregnant the entire time but for some reason, the tests didn't show anything. Nothing on the scan, hormone levels in blood were consistent with menopause...

My experience has taught me that anything really is possible. I knew with both my pregnancies even before I had actual proof.

I would take a test and if it's negative wait another week and do another one.

Thanks moon. I decided to do the other tonight and it's come back negative. I still feel something isn't right though. I'll give it a week and try another just to be sure.
