Hi

So today is the day I go back to ghs local GUM clinic for my implant. I chose the GUM clinic because my GP surgery is so busy and couldn't get an appointment for weeks.

I went a couple of weeks a go, hand a consultation and everything was fine and today is the day I go back for it.

It's the first time for it. I'm usually on the pill (microgynon). I'm soooo nervous about getting it, even though I've been through childbirth, have multiple tattoos and piercings but yeah I'm scared lol.

Just need a hand hold and for someone to say you'll be fine haha 🙈

It will be fine, putting it in is quite painless, they will wipe with a numbing solution and it goes in really quick.

Getting it back out is a different story.

I have had 2 but didn't get on with them emotionally, felt like I wanted to kill people. But great if you don't have any side effects.

You will be fine! I find chatting to the nurse/whoever is doing whatever I'm needing done about absolutely anything helps massively. Usually the nurse chats away automatically but if you're really nervous give him/her a heads up and they'll help you through it. Good luck (you won't need it)!

It's super easy and quick (mine was easy coming out too) I've always had them done at the GUM clinic. I thought my lip piercing hurt a lot more and was sore for much longer. Honestly you will be fine.

Thank you guys! I know that's what I keep thinking. I was never nervous before getting my piercings etc so don't know why I'm now freaking out lol.

My appointment isn't until 7.15pm so think that's making it worse that I'm having to wait all day (only due to childcare - waiting for partner to get home from work so he can have DS).

The procedure is very straightforward and they'll use a local anaesthetic to numb your arm first.

However, a lot of people ask for removal de to side effects e.g. It can play havoc with your periods. Our surgery offers a 3 month trial of the mini pill first (Cerelle or Cerazette) as it's very similar, so you can see if it suits you.

BringMeTea123 · 13/07/2017 14:45

The reason I'm coming off the pill is because I forget to take it. Plus it's not really suiting me anymore with the side effects such as mood swings (horrible bitch) when I take it etc.

I just want something I can leave and forget about until we want anymore children. I know it can play havoc for a little while but I'm going to try it and see how it goes x

They've cancelled my appointment tonight as their nurse has gone home sick 😩 just adds to it all now that I have to wait again until Wednesday!
