How long do I give it before need to head to the docs?

I wouldn't go to the docs at all about period being a couple of days late. Home tests are just as good as docs so unlikely you're pregnant.

minusten · 13/02/2017 14:24

Are you normally very regular?

Squirmy65ghyg · 13/02/2017 17:17

Usually 28 days exactly. Over the last year, 29 days once. This is day 30 and tomorrow day 31.

Worried about false negatives.

Maybe give it a few days. I think that is what a doctor would advise anyway. As pp said, their tests are no more accurate than home tests.

Must be stressful for you. Hope you get the result you want.

Thank you minusten. I can't think of anything else :(

I wouldn't go to the DR for late AF in case it was a month or so late. I'd assume a random cycle where I didn't ovulate or something (in the absence of a positive pregnancy test).
False negatives are very rare.

Somehowsomewhere · 13/02/2017 17:55

I meant unless it was a month or so late, not in case.

DanGleballs · 13/02/2017 17:58

If you are thinking of not continuing with the pregnancy I would go sooner rather than later, definitely do not leave it a month. Good luck, I hope af comes shortly.

Thanks all for your replies.

DP is on the same page, which is good. I'll give it a few more days.

I thought false negatives were common but false positives rare?

I think false negatives are fairly common, but usually because of testing too soon i.e before af is due. And then they are not really false because there is not enough hcg in your urine.

I would have thought it would be positive if you were pregnant, and it's much more likely that you are just late.

Try not to worry and test again in a few days.

Somehowsomewhere · 13/02/2017 19:45

A false negative after missed AF isn't common.

Squirmy65ghyg · 13/02/2017 21:25

Thank you, that's reassured me.

I am pleased that it all ended well.

Bulletproof contraception is next on the list hopefully? I really don't mean that to be patronising. I was like fort knox after a scare, lol

Squirmy65ghyg · 14/02/2017 19:18

We use condoms, are limited due to various issues. But yes :-) If we ever do it again haha!
