Getting older and thinking of another baby!!!

Hi I'm new to mumsnet. I'm in a dilemma due to my age!!!! I have already had 3 children but from a previous relationship that was abusive. Because of this I remained single for 6 years bringing the children up alone which was a struggle.

I have now met a wonderful man and we have been together 6 months. Both of us would like to have a child together which would be lovely and quite a natural thing to do if it wasn't for the fact that I was 41.

Ideally if we were younger we'd wait a couple of years perhaps but due to my age I think waiting would make conceiving more difficult. I just wonder whether I am too old and whether it is too soon!!!!!

Aah, broodiness. It's hard to ignore isn't it?

I can't comment on whether it's too soon for you-i think only you can know that. I have, however, seen a lot of posts on here by women your age and older who have found themselves pregnant. I think there's a thread in 'Conception' for ttc at 40+. Might be worth you having a look?

As far as i know if you're still having regular periods you're still technically fertile, although i know its not that simple.

Good luck with whatever decision you make!
