I am 31 wks with my 4th baby. I had midwife today. I explained to her all the pains I have been getting which she said is SPD. I had this with my 2nd but not my 1st or 3rd. I told her my consultant wanted to see me at 38 wks but I couldn't get in to see him. So she got me in at 37+2wk and said he will probably have me in at 38wks to induce. I am disabled and suffer with my mobility without having the added SPD problem.

Then she asked about movement. I said she didn't move a great deal and when she did it was very light movements. So I have got to do a kick chart.

Then came the meassurement. She hasn't grown in over a week. She is meassuring 29cm. Midwife said she isn't too worried at mo but will see me in 2 wks. Her heart rate was fine. I'm not very big at all and I know some babies meassure smaller. Its just one thing after another health wise at the mo.

She also wants me to go back on my anti-depressants. So I am just waiting to hear from my doctor.

Any advice or words of wisdom would be greatly received.

how was your baby measured - via a scan or was it the size of your bump?

I've heard that both can be a bit of an estimate at the stage you're at.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but is it around 1cm a week it is "meant" to grow at this stage? Well, if the measurement last week was off by a few mm, and this week by another few, thats nearly a cm right there.

Sorry, I'm no expert, but just trying to think logically. I am sure all is ok, otherwise your mw would have told you she was worried - thats what theyre there to do.
Lots of luck x

I was meassured twice over a week ago as I said she didn't move alot. He suggested a scan but I said her heart is beating so I wasn't too worried. Now I am a bit worried as now she wants me to do a kick chart and ring labour ward if I haven't had 10 movements in 12 hours.

Has she EVER moved a lot? I've read in many places that the concern is more when there is a significant CHANGE in the baby's activity.

Try not to worry. If you dont feel as many as 10 movements, do as she says and phone the hospital. You're doing the right thing in monitoring things.

My friend measured small for dates and with a limited baby movements. She was rushed in for a scan and baby is slightly big for dates and positioned towards her back so she couldn't feel him.

I don't think you need to worry too much
