I am 8 weeks pregnant, and totally paranoid something is wrong!! I have stomach cramps and lower back ache on and off and have done for nearly 2 weeks now. I am so worried that i am about to miscarry.
5 years ago i had a termination, and the day before i had the op, i was bleeding and doc said it prob start of a miscarriage but still had the op. I am so worried its going to happen again! I have not had my booking appointment yet, but when i saw my doctor to confirm pregnancy, i told him about the cramps and he said they were normal, and also the concern over another misscarriage and he said i was 'out of the woods'...er really? i am not so sure about that!!

Anyone feel my pain??

I had a lot of cramps in early pregnancy as well and remember feeling sick with anxiety about whether or not I was going to miscarry until after I had my 12 week scan. So I do understand what a stressful time these early weeks are.

I think from memory that miscarriages are more likely in the first 8 weeks of pregnancy so that could be what your doctor meant about being out of the woods.

Obviously no-one can guarantee that you won't miscarry but cramping in early pregnancy is very common so try not to worry.

Can you get a private scan? We had one done at 8 weeks for reassurrance as although I have a history of miscarriage, I haven't had the 3 consecutive MCs needed to get scanned simply for reassurrance.

I, too, had some bad cramps during the first few weeks. A few people said they were 'implantation cramps' where the egg/foetus is taking root and digging in!

So maybe they are good signs rather than bad

If you have had a bad experience before then you are obviously going to think the worst - but try and listen to your doctor and realise that nature has to take its course.

I had phantom periods in the first couple of months..... so dont worry.

Hi, i'm also 8 weeks pregnant.

Im cinstantky worried about something, if it isn't the baby's health it's feeling so sick or headaches or feeling slighlty dizzy.

All yuo want is someone to tell you its all normal.

Also the cramps i have been getting them i read that week 8 you get alot as baby has a growing spurt also lots of extra hormones this week.

How are you feeling in your self?

PinkiePoo · 07/07/2010 18:50

Thanks guys!

I am feeling ok, a little bit mood swingy, but not really bad. VERY tired. Nearly fell asleep while driving today, and sore boobs.

I will try to relax, but even when not pregnant i worry about everything else, so relaxing is not an easy thing for me to do, and on top of that i am a dance teacher, so i worry i am doing too much! Ha ha the list never ending!

I would love an early scan but cannot afford it at the moment......i am on constant knicker watch. Oh and i know its a bit 'not for tea time' but i have ALOT of discharge! is this normal? it doesnt look weird.....but just a lot!

Oh god, i'm gonna have to buy the old Tena ladies aren't i?!

Im 8 weeks

sarahmia · 07/07/2010 18:59

hey
Im 6 weeks preg and a total worrier.. I worried about not having any symptoms apart from cramping when i was pg with my DD and a few months back i lost a baby so now im SUPER worried esp about not having any cramps!!! and every pain or non pain i have. i have even convinced myself that the shoulder pain i have had for months is a sign of ectopic pregnancy.. I HAD IT BEFORE I GOT PG!!!
I think its a crazy time, but i like to look at it this way, we just want this baby to be healthy so badly.. think of all those unwanted babies, these ones are so wanted and we havent even had them yet.

MacMomo · 07/07/2010 19:07

I had constant cramps, often severe and almost unbearable for the first 8 weeks; I still get them from time to time. 12 week scan and blood tests normal. I have assumed it is my uterus stretching.

My doctor said that I only needed to call for medical attention if I had sudden bleeding first and then severe cramps.

Hope that help to ease your mind.

PinkiePoo · 07/07/2010 19:44

Thank you ladies!

It is a worrying time, my DP tells me off all the time for being negative....but i do suppose what will happen i can not stop.

Thanks again xx
