Just been to the loo and after wiping saw something that has freaked me out a little bit - it was about an inch long, looked just like a massive string of snot. Not bloody, just snot-coloured. Could it be a show? If not, what else could it be? I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow. No contractions, BH or nuffin. Second pregnancy.

(Have also had two lots of diarrhoea this morning too - I know that can happen before labour sets in....)

Hello.... ooh it could be! Mine came after my waters went, and just looked like a little bit of slightly-bloodied snot (sorry, far too TMI I know!)

I would wait and see, it could just be regular discharge, but if you get any other symptoms call the labour unit or MW!

Good luck!

Good morning,

I'm afraid I don't know the answer, but will watch the thread with interest as I just had exactly the same thing! I'm a first-timer and my due date is today (!) - nothing other than a few BH type twinges so far though...

Anyway, I'm seeing the MW later (3 pm), so will let you know what she says.

Sounds very like it to me....! Although show can be anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of hours before labour starts iirc?

Could be, or could be slightly heavy discharge

I had a show with mine after contractions started

It was more 'jelly' like and slightly bloodstained. Delightful

Yikes. Have just made some flapjacks and some soup in preparation! Just in case

DH won't be happy - he's working late today in preparation for a big presentation on Friday morning. Oops...

Hello again,

Following from last post - just back from the MW appt and she says it definitely sounds like a show - there isn't always blood at all.

So, hopefully it will happen for both of us soon - good luck!

Hi there

FWIW mine was more snot/mucus - rather than blood and came 20 days before labour started

Good luck!!!

BettyButterknife · 07/07/2010 16:09

OoooooOOOOOOOOooooh! Very exciting! Wow.

Thanks Liz, really sweet of you to let me know what your MW said

It sounds like a tiny bit of your show to me! the real thing is actually quite big. My waters went a couple of days after getting a little bit like you've had, and a bit more the next day

NorthernLizInLondon · 07/07/2010 17:04

You're very welcome - if I hadn't have been seeing the MW and you hadn't posted the question, I probably would have asked the same thing, so thank you for starting the thread!

I passed green snotty goo for about 10 days before I went into labour. I even had it swabbed for infection but it came back clear. It got slightly more each day until big lumps when I wiped and eventually bloody too.
