just wondered if anyone could give some perspective?!
im 31 weeks pregnant with my second child...
so on sunday i had a bloody awful 24hr bug along with the usual sympoms i had some really nasty cramping pains and incredable back pain,i had a midwife app booked for monday anyway so i waited and went to see her then,
when i arrived she checked me over and then sent me to the nearest major hospital,
they hooked me up to a fetal monitor and did a fibrocentesis(??!!) test to see if i was in labour, all was well baby looked happy although the doctor mentioned my bp was up and said my meds should be put up (im not on any?!!!) that freaked me out a bit!
so today im still having those cramps, they're actually a
bit worse, what do i do?is it nothing?!
sorry about the utter rambling!

if your BP is raised and there was a presumption you were on meds and you aren't and you are having bad cramps, you need to go and see a MW today. phone the antenatal ward and ask for advice.. mention about hte meds and BP.

if you have any signs of pre eclampsia,of which raised BP is one, you need careful looking after

where are the cramps? are they in your tum/bowel or uterus or elsewhere? it's quite normal to have bowel type cramps in a tummy bug, particularly if you have had diarrhoea. Have you tried taking paracetamol or seeing if a warm bath helps soothe them?

Also some general advice, eat bland foods, nothing that will irritate your already upset tum, drink plenty to avoid dehydration.

As long as baby is moving as normal etc I would not be overly concerned as the docs were happy (wouldn't worry about the blood pressure either, bound to be up a bit in stressful circumstances) and try and take it easy for a day or two.

thankyou, the doctor said 'ohh i doesnt matter when i said i wasnt on meds, and my midwife checked my bp about an hour before and said it was fine,as it always has been, any chance you htink the doctor confused me with another patient?!

the cramps are in tummy uterus area streching around to my back, baby seems fine,i think its probably just recovery from tummy bug, just wanted to make sure im not ignoring anything i shouldnt be...thankyou.

personally, i would always recommend, when you have had pains that were enough to have you chekced out for early labour, and teh pains come back, that you are chekced by a MW

it might be the bug has caused the cramps/pains, but always better to be safe than sorry
