Hi does anyone know how old a baby has to be before they can sleep in a grobag? Is it just blankets until then???

They don't really recommend them I don't think until a little later on - first couple of months it is often advised to swaddle them - I think my dd went in at about 3-6 months. But can't honestly remember! I am sure someone with a better idea won't be too far away!

I used blankets for a couple of weeks and DD was always cold as she would wriggle and kick off covers. I then started using grobags and she is always warm and sleeps really well. She was about 10lb when i switched but don't know if there is a recommended size to use them.

I had to stop using any covers for the last week or so because it has been so hot. Back in the bag last night though.

I put both mine in there from birth. they say they are from 7 lbs and both mine were above that. they have extra buttons so they cannot wriggle into the bag.
grobag for the night, blankets during the day for us.

Mine went in a grobag from birth. He didn't like being hot and constricted so swaddling wouldn't have worked.

He was 10lb 4oz though. I think as long as they can't slip down inside it's fine. I guess you could always sew the body section a bit smaller if you have a teeny baby.

I think they have revised the weight that you can use them from, it used to be 7lbs if the grobag had the extra poppers in the arm holes and 10lbs for the other ones but I have a feeling the lower weight one is now 8lb something and you can get a grobag swaddle blanket to start with instead.

That would explain why mine was 3-6 months as she was 6lbs at birth so had some catching up to do! Also swaddled her as was bitter in December - don't know what I will do for an August one though!

Have you looked at Merino ones? I am considering investing but don't know much about them!
