Welcome Loopymummy, lovely to have a new person. We all know how scary the first weeks are.

Samantha I hope you start to feel better soon. Do work know you're still in pain? Is there anything they could do to help you out?

Lee I have no idea about labour symptoms, but if you're unsure give your midwife or hospital a call.

boodle banning the kittens from the bedroom definitely sounds like a good idea. Do you have one room you could keep them in? While they're being litter trained it's probably good to keep them quite confined, as that way they can't forget where the litter tray is.

On the subject of maternity clothes, Dorothy Perkins has some very nice non-maternity dresses in that are great for those of us who are just starting to show. Plenty of room to grow in them.

Hello Smile, Have updated the list. I'm not feeling very sociable at the moment, sorry for lack of name checking and welcoming. Back to school on Wednesday and very busy getting sorted. I'm also writing an essay which is taking much longer than I thought it would. The pain is still the same. Nothing can be done about it aside from early induction. I've bought a second birting ball to sit on at school Hmm. It's possible that if the baby engages she will give me a little more room but no guarantees. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the weekend, I can't wait to hear from Meita! SBx

toomuchteaching · 29/08/2010 20:54

Phew... that was an exhausting read.

So I'm back from France and it's bloody cold here!! Thoroughly tortured myself walking past fromageries... but made up for it with pain au chocolats every day for breakfast and other delicious pastries! Had a lovely holiday and gave up wearing a bra, and now need to get myself in the mindset for a) dressing properly and b) starting my new job on Wednesday (the one where I found out I was pregnant the same week as the interview... eek).

Am glad Alba and others are past some of those significant dates (belated hugs), it's just so hard, but I do feel more confident now than I have at any point... I kind of think I'd been holding my breath if you know what I mean.

I'm looking forward to news from Meita.

Welcome to Ivy and Loopy, a quiet and uneventful time to you both.

Hope pains get better SamB or at least the second ball helps at school... I feel terrible for you. I'm dreading starting but only because I'm a lazy cow. Well that and all the gossiping about someone starting a new job 22 weeks pregnant...

Muser good nuchal news.

clareanna hope you're feeling positive and are finding ways to distract yourself.

To do any more namechecking I'd have to go back through the pages, and after a long drive home including a flat tyre on the M40 I'm out. But glad to be back and wishing you all well.

clareanna · 29/08/2010 21:04

loopy welcome! Sure it was an implantation bleed which means good things. Hope you are feeling ok x

AlbaDeTamble · 29/08/2010 22:50

Unbuffy, have you found a way out from under the big black cloud, cos I'm there too now and want it to go away. I'm exhausted, teenage DSCs driving me crazy, work all go and DH seems to need to work all weekend, every weekend, so rather lacking in support... I just wrote a big long rant, then deleted it, suffice to say I'm not exactly a cheery ray of sunshine just now. Clinging to the hope that this is just a post viral depression, having just got over awful cold that was more like flu, and it will pass.

Potty training not exactly a breeze here either, if it helps. Dry very quickly which is a huge relief, but he became hugely constipated as he refuses to poo on the loo. We've resorted to lots of fruit, fibre and syrup of figs, and nappies on demand until he's regular again... Then we'll have to start the struggle of getting him to use the loo instead... Half the battle won...

Clareanna I can relate to work being too busy to deal with anything else for now... I really need to see an Osteopath, but can't see a day I'll have time for over a week. Silly really as I'm sure it would help me a lot to stop wincing all the time, it's amazing the essential things you put off because too busy with work/kids/life... I do hope you're keeping your chin up, glad you felt some flutters, that's the most you'll get at 15 wks (midwife gave me the I don't believe you look when I said I could feel movements at that stage..) -fantastically reassuring that you have them, they do tend to be few and far between though, in case you haven't felt them again since.

Looking forward to hearing that your baby wriggles like mad for you on screen on Thursday

Meita looking forward to hearing your happy news!

Sam and toomuch good luck with back to school (I can't wait till the kids are all busy again... Roll on lots of homework!). Sounds like it'll be challenging for you both. Hope the ball works, Sam. I have H&S recommended chair at work but still aching by lunchtime. If too much pain you should surely be able to be signed off sick? It's not a normal pregnancy thing but a most unpleasant complication. I hope your little one engages sooner rather than later to give you some respite.

Welcome to all new comers at the scary end of the list, sorry I'm a bit ranty and not lovely and smiley and welcoming this evening... I should really get some sleep, it'll all look better in the morning...

WestYorkshireGirl · 30/08/2010 13:04

Hi All

Good to read everyone's news.
I've been rubbish lately - sorry! Have been totally consumed by house renovation and needing to look after DH whilst doing said renovation (he gets a bit grumpy and single minded shall we say)! Also, been trying to paint fencing, choose soft furnishings, do housework etc etc - all at the same time as cooking this baby up! I don't know how anyone with DCs already copes?! Coming up to anatomy scan week after next at 21 weeks which is exciting and just before we go away for 3 whole weeks! In last week have developed v bad back ache - not sure if it's the ligament pain so common in pregnancy or aggravation of an old SI joint injury, but it's been a nightmare and I keep panicking I'll have if for the rest of the pregnancy. Anyway, am going to try and get back into MN again!

clareanna · 30/08/2010 18:06

wyg good to hear from you! Glad the renovations are coming on well. Urgh to the back ache- have you tried a massage? You can also get support belts which can help- hope it's just temporary and due to too much diy though! Hang up the paintbrush andhave a nice sit down and a cup of tea I say!

alba re potty training- have you tried the fish story? Quite foul but worked for me when ds wax a reluctant poo-er. If you want more details let me know ... Sorry to hear you're feeling down at the mo

Have been lying on my tummy and definitely felt some complaining, so feeling good about Thursday fx!

It is rather horrid but seems to work! It involves telling an elaborate story about where poo goes- flush and whoosh down a little pipe into a bigger pipe like a waterslide them under the ground in a big tunnel then it's cleaned and goes in another even bigger pipe to the sea- where the fishes eat it for their lunch andvrhe fish say 'ooh thank you very much that was lovely etc' the more sound effects and actions the better! Was worried it would put ds off nemo and fish fingers for life but hasn't done. They don't understand that poo is dirty so it works! Once ds was no longer scared of doing poos on the potty I stopped using the story and he seems to have forgotten it now- phew!

The things you do...

Loopy I'm sure the nausea will arrive before you know it and you'll be longing for only sign being a strengthening line! But I also know how reassuring that sickness becomes...

Clareanna great news on more baby moves! And thanks for the story. DH says yuck, but I shall be trying it!

Well, got back from lovely trip out with DS yesterday to find houseful of teenagers (expected) and cracked pane of glass in kitchen window (not expected)... Grrrr, why do we all long for kids so much Hmm?

Unbuffy · 31/08/2010 08:57

Clareanna Hmm at fish story, think it would put me of fish 'n' chips! But well done on the tummy grumbles...

WYG I feel your house-renovation-pain... while pg with dd I decorated our whole house top to bottom (the do started to worry that she ws going to be painted I think. Then we moved. And I've got a great big hole in an unpainted, partially plastered living room where the fireplace used to be, and a lot of stuff still in boxes, AND dd to look after. I'm not sure how we cope either!

Loopy all seems well, just keep going now...

Alba I think I'm just about getting out of the rut. I tried to do a nice long post yesterday but dd managed to delete it (?!) so here's the gist. I think at about this point all the stuff going on in your body goes a bit mental, PLUS previous due date causing brian freeze, PLUS no more scans/anything, you have to rely on your own movement feelings, PLUS starting to think about birth, consequences of having (another)dc and reality kicks in, PLUS exhaustion of summer, PLUS dp now used to the idea of pregnancy so expects life to be back to normal, PLUS lack of sleep from being clobbered internally all night, PLUS menkul hormones PLUS usual everyday stress EQUALS misery, woe and general down-ness. I think I'm just about seeing the other side of it now, partly having had a bit of reassurance about the whole birth thing (they TALKED to me shock horror) and partly having had a long wail out a dh explaining what's going on and partly cos i think the Next Stage (ie nesting) is about to kick in and i will hopefully have a bit more energy then. I don't know if any of this is any help, but a 'sounds familiar' can be at times... In the meantime keep posting and we'll all be here with blankets and tissues and that squeezy silicone stuff you get in mastic guns for your broken window (and teenagers if neccessary Wink). But there will keep being good days and bad days - it happens.

Hello to everyone else out there, this post is getting a bit mammoth so i won't pass on too much news (not that there is much!). First puppy leaves home on Friday (yay) and my big BIG ball as dd calls it has arrived... now just got to work out what to DO with the thing... And don't even talk to me about potty training. It's a disaster. I'm waiting for my instruction book to arrive and starting again!

I'm off to make pancakes, cheerio all x

BunnyBaby · 31/08/2010 16:04

Hello everyone, another lax poster, but have bee busy keeping up with everyone's news!

Clareanna good news about the aquishy wiggles, and I don't think you need to worry about the chicken pops (as DS1 called them) if you have had them before.

Viv big hello, and welcome :) [wiggles along and makes some space]

I am eating far too much and already feel like I'm going to pop. Also worrying in a way that I didn't last time: about DH1 having enough work (he's self employed and business always has done well), about all the changes DS1 has had to endeavour, new house, new workshop for daddy, new nursery. Poor little one has developed as stammer. He is 2yrs 8mths, it's awful hearing him struggle.

I now have more energy than 1st trim, but am staying up way too late so feeling more tired than before. Doh!

Glad to hear all kittens and puppies progressing well, and babies too!

Will try and post more often, just so busy with new house etc.

Redheadgal · 31/08/2010 16:10

Hiya Viv Great to see you here! Congratulations and wishing you a very boring nine months.

Hello to everyone else. Finally got broadband up and running so feel reconnected once again. House is still in utter chaos, but feeling surprisingly chipper about that. Maybe it's because I'm making french onion soup and the whole house smells fantastic.

Sorry for the lack of name checking once again. I'm rubbish I know, but I haven't been keeping up (will go back and read through now!). Having a rather boring time of it at the mo, although dh did feel the baby kick yesterday for the first time which he got very excited about. Finally told my department today too - eeeek! Got a nice email saying congratulations and advising me to tell my funding body which has no confused me no end as to who arranges my maternity pay...

Good luck to all those in the throes of potty training and chicken pox!

AlbaDeTamble · 31/08/2010 17:17

Hello Viv, lovely to see you here, hope you're feeling positive and managing to enjoy some excitement Smile

Clareanna, DS had it (for the second time Hmm) in July. GP didn't seem at all worried about me since I also had it as a child. Hope your DS isn't too grizzly and unhappy... For both bouts I found that piriton helped with sleep and there's a foam from boots called poxclin which worked wonders on the rash.

And thanks for the sympathy Unbuffy, you're right, so many little things, but mainly good old hormones. No reason particularly to feel down just now but I just want to cry....... Glad it's lifting a bit for you, gives me hope that this isn't how it's going to be for the next 4 months

VivClicquot · 31/08/2010 17:23

Hi alba, bunny and redheadgal :)

Am flailing wildly between mad excitement and intense paranoia that it's all going to go wrong again, but I'm grasping hard to my "third time lucky" mantra. Am already feeling very tired, especially around mid-afternoon - something which I didn't have with the previous pregnancies so fingers crossed it's a good sign.

It's so nice to see so many of the old faces from our sister thread and to hear so many of you are doing well.

Unbuffy · 31/08/2010 17:28

HI VIV!

Does anyone know any exciting things to do on a gym/pregnancy ball? (Except what my dirty dh has already suggested...)
