ToomT good luck today lovely.

BunnyBaby · 17/08/2010 13:43

Jollster so very sorry, and like the others say it does not seem fair. Once is very difficult, but to then go through it again. My heart goes out to you, your family and your little angel babies.

annie51 · 17/08/2010 14:22

Hi all

Have been on hols so not posted for a few weeks. Went for scan today 12+6 weeks and thankfully all is well, we seen a normal sized for dates baby that was moving all over the place. I criedSmile.
Don't know if I'll ever feel 100% confident, well maybe after the birth, but I can now start to believe it's real. After mc1 2DC then 6 more mc's, I'm having a baby.

AlbaDeTamble · 17/08/2010 15:21

Sam it was (as I think you've guessed) Pembury. Were you at Maidstone yesterday? We don't really have any alternatives so I am going to have to toughen up if I do need to go back. Thankfully delivery suite was fine last time, just have to keep away from all the rest. Good to hear all well with your little one too, hope you're resting up now before term starts again.
Though you have got me thinking, maybe we could get to maidstone if it is much nicer... Though they'll be in transition for the big move by January... One to ask the midwife when I see her. If nothing else I have no unhappy associations there... Number one choice still a homebirth, but who knows how it will turn out.

Annie wonderful news that all is well, I'm not surprised you cried, what a huge relief

Jolls I'm crossing my fingers extra tight you're back with a similarly wonderful post of good 12 wk scan before the year's out. I'm so sad it didn't turn out well this time. You sound so strong, I hope you've found space for a good old cry. One little ray of light, oyster bay... I've tried a sip or two recently but it tastes hideous! Good luck with your house move.

I don't have the list on this page... I know it's a busy scan week, toomuch are you up next? Best of luck!
And Muser hope you slept soundly last night after seeing all was well Smile

thefatladyscreams · 17/08/2010 15:47

Jolls - how are you doing today? Been thinking of you. Why don't you stick all thoughts of TTC again in the "too difficult to deal with box" - you'll know when the time is right. Hope your housemove goes OK.

Meita - can't believe it's the 17th. Have you informed meita-bean??? How are you doing? I was fine until a couple of days ago when my joints seemed to seize up (felt like I'd be left out in the rain with no oil!)

Boodle - lovely to hear from you. Insomnia is horrid. Sounds like you have your fair share of aches and pains!

Louisesh - what car accident? Did I miss something? But glad baby is OK. Have you started your leave yet?

Alba - really good news re your scan but what a horrible midwife. How did they let someone like that loose on the general public. It makes me so mad because a little bit of empathy goes such a long way. When I miscarried, I remember having to register at the EPU and my hands were shaking so much I couldn't fill out the paperwork. An office administrator called Pat took me to one side and was so kind and sweet. Her kindness still stays with me as one positive at that horrid time. I'd follow up with a formal complaint (suspect the registrar will do nothing) - perhaps give PALS a call at the hospital if you feel up to it now.

Annie51 - good news. Try to enjoy the temporary gap in the worrying!

SamB - glad to hear everything is OK despite your discomfort. Glad SamB junior is deciding to be so text book!

Sorry - bound to have left someone out Blush.

Been reading childbirth threads - not a good idea! Keep repeating to myself that people don't tend to post about the positive experiences!

thefatladyscreams · 17/08/2010 15:49

Just seen meita's post - did I miss cheepz?

Cheepz - if you're reading this, big hi to you. Like meita says, you should be on this list with us (think you were taking a break from ttc if I remember rightly?)

toomuchteaching · 17/08/2010 18:25

Thanks Alba, Gi1da and SamB for your kind thoughts... I had my appointment with the research midwives for the pre-eclampsia study I'm on before the anomaly scan and my bp and heart rate were both up... erm... surprise surprise I haven't been for my scan yet and I'm scared.

Needn't have been though. Bambino was all present and correct, in fact the sonographer said I was growing a "pretty standard baby"! I'm sure one day I won't want a pretty standard child but right now it suits me just fine. Very wriggly and no issues, a tiny bit small (but still normal) but she said she thinks looking at my frame it probably just means a neat baby, which suits me, although of course I'll take what I'm given.

Such a relief, I feel like I can start to get excited now. I know there'll be more days of worry and nerves ahead, but today has definitely been a good day. I just had a very restful afternoon nap after last night's fretful sleep.

Jollster still thinking about you, and you too meita, hope your time comes soon, glad you're feeling a bit better SamB and hope the same will be true for you soon Unbuffy. And lovely news for you too annie. Hope everyone else is doing ok today. Much love.

louisesh · 17/08/2010 20:44

WestYorkshireGirl · 17/08/2010 20:58

Hi All

I'm sorry I've not posted for ages. I've been finding it hard to juggle house renovation, work, social life and tiredness. Have failed miserably to feel better after 12 weeks (now 18) and had various niggly health issues. Still waking at 3am and today I didn't get to sleep again so am pretty done in and fed up.

Really sorry to hear about Jolls - I hope you are are OK.

zayja · 18/08/2010 01:24

Hi All,
Also just checking in a minute. So saddened to hear your news jolls, I'll second what TFLS said, take a break for a bit and come back to it when you're ready. And be good to yourself.

Well, lots of lovely "normal" scan news - that's great! meita - due today!! :o So excited for you and hoping everything goes wonderfully! TFLS, have been reading birth stories too, and they are scary. Of course, I've heard some great and simple ones as well. Then you think "with my luck, that won't be me".. You just can't win for trying!

Well, on a humorous note, I stumbled upon these awkward pregnancy belly photos and had a good laugh. Was thinking I'd skip the belly shots, but now I may just do a tongue-in-cheek one for fun! Hope you'll enjoy these. I think my favorite is the one with the husband blurred in the distant background! :o ...or the one with the tire Hmm

We share the pain and mourn the loss with:
Jollster, Cheepz, Freezing, BarrenBrook, MsJL, LadyBee and Moofold

Alab Pembury is the hospital where I have had all of the problems so I'm not surprised. I am very sorry for you though. I still go there for scans every four weeks but my ante-natal is in Sevenoaks. I know that for a 10.20 appointment I will still be waiting at 1.00pm. How far are you from Maidstone? The delivery suite there is lovely and the staff have been brilliant. Service was a bit slow when I was there on Monday but they had a 'dire emergency' which held things up. I didn't ask.

Annie I don't think you are on the list. Would you like to add yourself in or post your details and someone else will when the list is done tomorrow? Glad your scan was ok, it will feel increasingly real now. I was much more confident after the 20 week scan.

TFLS I've not been sleeping well and have been reading the post-natal/birth/breastfeeding threads. Ooof. Have you noticed that when people post their brith stories no-one says 'it was at this point that the pain was so unbearable that I genuinly wanted to die'. I can't have been the only person who has felt like that in labour (obviously I laugh about it now) yet no-one says. We are all so polite! I have learned a lot about 'cluster feeding', which ididn't have a name when DD's were born. It's opened my eyes a bit. DD1 wanted to 'cluster feed' (I now know) all evening but I was advised at the time by HV and MW to bottle feed as she wasn't feeding regularly and the feeds went on for over 20 minutes. I felt terrible at the time and it was actually completely normal and ok.

WYG Sorry to hear that you are having sleep problems. Me too. I am always awake between 3-5am and then drift back off only to be woken by DH alarm at 6am. I am so tired and not even at school at the moment. I can't imagine how you are managing all of the stuff you've got going on at the moment. I didn't pick up until about 16 weeks and even then the tiredness didn't pass.

Unbuffy How are you feeling now? Hope you are ok, been thinking about you.

Naitimum Same for you too, hope you have picked up a bit and are feeling more optimistic.

Boodleboot Look at you, 36 weeks already and almost top of the list! How are you doing?

Still thinking about you Meita and hoping you are bearing up.

Magic How are your symptoms? Are you still struggling with feeling sick?

Hope everyone I haven't name checked is well and looking forward to another day. It's very sunny here for the first time in ages. I'm off to the osteopath to see if she can do anything with the pain I've been experiencing. And then I really must do some work...school is looming and my masters is not going get itself. I do have to write an essay and the deadline is looming...SBx

Meita are you busy nesting or labouring???????

Feel slightly better today but still shattered despite having a good sleep and a lay in. Feel a little queasy but not horrific......Fancy some toast.........

Have a good day ladies!

Meita · 18/08/2010 11:45

Nothing to update here - unless dreaming of breaking waters counts?

best wishes to everyone!

Hopefully · 18/08/2010 15:42

Sad Jolls Sad so sorry to hear the crappy news - crap even if you were half suspecting it. You sound v strong and I hope you're doing OK today.

Am not doing badly - still keep getting phobia that all symptoms have disappeared (as they do every time I get enough sleep/food/water) and contemplating forking out for a private scan next week. Can't really justify the cost, but also not enjoying the constant stress.

Meita hope you don't have too many more days to wait Smile (although there's a lot to be said for giving birth to an enormously robust looking 9lb 9oz baby at 42 weeks Grin)

WYG sorry you're still feeling crap - my friend had appalling MS until 21 weeks, when it magically disappeared, so there's hope you'll feel better one day!

DS has been napping for about 3 hours. This is literally unheard of! Have mainly been staring vacantly at TV and finishing the Twilight series. OMG what a pile of junk. Compelling, and very readable, but complete teenage junk! Will probably see films nonetheless Grin

naitimum · 18/08/2010 16:30

Jollster - I'm so sorry to hear your news.
I'm still here, quietly, and trying to get used to this HUGE thread!
I've rung up to make an appointment for next week with dr cos I'm almost past my previous 2 mc dates. I'm definitely feeling more positive. This is such a rollercoaster!

RememberToPlaywiththeKids · 18/08/2010 18:04

Hi Ladies - can I pop in? I just want to ask you a question.

I'm PG with DC3 after a MMC in Nov and an early spontaneous MC in the New Year. I had my first scan a couple of weeks ago and it was ok but they put me as high risk for DS (1 in 5). Now I wasn't particularly thrown by this but I am having real trouble admitting to people that I'm pregnant and I'm absolutely convinced that they'll find major abnormalities at the 20 week scan that are 'incompatible with life' and we'll have a nasty decision to make.

Is it normal to feel like this after 2 MCs or is it my body telling me that something is majorly wrong? This is to be my last pregnancy and I so wanted to enjoy it but I find myself trying to cover it up and feeling anxious all the time.

SamanthaB123 · 18/08/2010 18:19

Hello RTPK I have thought that my body was telling me that something was seriously wrong a number of times and it wasn't at all. I think that it's just par for the course that we are on. There are of course warning signs that shouldn't be ignored however, when you just have a 'sense' that all is not well, it's not that reliable. Congratulations on your pregnancy, your risk of Down's is higher than others but there is a 4/5 chance that your baby doesn't have it, which is about 90%. Turned around it can sound a lot better. From my own persective we would have continued with any viable pregnancy so I would have gone ahead and told people. You are pregnant which is wonderful after what you have been through. Try to remember that part and worry about a problem if you find you have one. Worry in advance won't help you or the baby and is probably totally unnecessary.

hippychick66 · 18/08/2010 18:41

remember can I ask how old you are? or is that rude. It's just that you sound a lot like me (except I'm not pregnant again - yet) I had a MMC followed 3 months later by an early spontaneous MC. I completely understand everything you've said. I agree with Samantha that we have decided to go ahead with any viable pregnancy we are lucky enough to get (even if the down's odds are not brillient). I think because you've had so much disappointment already you're just finding it hard to believe that things are progresing ok this time.

All i would say is, if this is your last pregnancy, please try to enjoy it as much as you're able. It's unlikely you will have terrible news at the 20 week scan and as Samantha says you have a 4/5 chance of a baby without downs.

I think if I get pergnant again and make it past 12 weeks I am gonna tell people about it and try to be as positive as possible because it will also be my last pregnancy.

It's so hard to be positive and still guard your heart against disappoitnment.

I wish you well, better get off this thread now cos i am gatecrashing cos i'm not even preg at the mo Smile.

LeeWT · 18/08/2010 19:08

jolls im on my iphone but wanted to check in and im so sorry to see your news. i had two mmcs in a row and i know how awful it is not to mention having to deal with medical procedures afterwards. thinking of you of course xxx

glad everyone else's scans went well..

meita can you BELIEVE you are FULL TERM?! as cheepz said (hiii cheeepz), seems like no time since last summer and look how far youve come. such an exciting time.

too exhausted to name check but love to all xxx

annie51 · 18/08/2010 20:01

Hi

I will take the plunge! Can I please get added to the list.
Annie 51 - baby #3 2DD 13 weeks EDD 27/02/2011.
remember I'm the opposite dispite 7 previous mc's, being over 40 and asthmatic the midwife has me down as low risk.

RememberToPlaywiththeKids · 18/08/2010 21:25

Thank you so much for your replies. Annie - congratulations - 51 - wow! They don't include the number of MCs or asthma in the screening calculations, so obviously everything else looked good, which is great!

I'm going to be 40 once the baby is born and my background risk was 1 in 120 due to my age alone. The nuchal was 2.85mm and my bloods showed a high HCG and a low PAPP-A and a reverse flow through the ductus venosus.

I think I'm ok with Down's - I'm just worried about additional and really serious problems at the 20 week scan. Maybe I should just resign myself to that and just grin and bear it until the end of september! I have a huge bump already so it's impossible to hide. People in the park are asking me if I'm pregnant so I have to fess up really. I just hope it continues otherwise i will have a lot of explaining to do to a lot of people :(

Meita · 18/08/2010 21:46

Remember that's a difficult situation to be in. I think I would tell people at work and such, but also tell them quite honestly that you are worried (and have reason to be) that things won't work out.
That way you can share your happy moments about the pregnancy (and shared joy is double the joy) whilst also sharing the worry (shared worry is half the worry).
I wish you all the best. For now you are pregnant, and your little one has every chance of making it. If not, there will be plenty of time to worry and grieve when the time comes.

Lee it's weird Confused and somehow surreal! But yes, quite exciting too! You just wait, it will be your turn to be top of the list in no time at all Wink

Saw MW this afternoon and as they have me down as due on the 14th (dating scan, but I trust my own dates more) it was all talk of sweeps and induction. So I'm now booked for a sweep next Tuesday and induction Friday night if nothing happens before then. Am thinking I'll try to postpone the induction until after the weekend. But it's still a long time till then and much can (hopefully!) happen yet!

Putting you on the list, Annie, and updating for me.

good to see the reemergence of lots of ladies nr the top....we have truly had an emotional journey together this last yr....altho it seems like four hundred yrs to me!!

so glad that there is a steady spread of dates now as it means there will always be someone slightly further on than u and thus able to share their experience and hope!

i have been having slow but steady contractions today but suspect they will amount to nothing....would like babybear to stay put one more wk at least anyhow so i am officially at 'term'....its uncomfortable tho and dh and i packed my bag finally this eve so we 'ready' should need be.

i am putting on lots of weight now which is crap but bizarre as not able to eat that much....prob laying down fat stores for breastfeeding....still craving spinach and bricks now too....dont ask.....:)

love and hope filled hugs to you all xx

Meita - based on what I've said - why do you think there's reason for me to be worried?
