Major sympathy to magic8 and muser and BUnder - the nausea and sickness is absolutely awful. I think I actually got a bit depressed with it...because it makes it impossible to feel excited and joyful about the pregnancy. It did for me anyway.

But as toomuchteaching said, it definitely eases. Perhaps not at the magical 12-week marker as some of the books say, but for me it began to ease off around 16/17 weeks. And bizarrely, though i still sometimes get the disgusting taste in my mouth and a wave of nausea, you do forget how awful it is.

So best wishes and hope it passes soon.

Fingers crossed for us on Wed xx

Goodluckbear · 10/08/2010 10:09

Welcome Dorcas!!!

Massive sympathy to those riding the vomit comet, I always thought it was one of those funny pregnancy symptoms that you see in the movies, it is actually NOT FUNNY, or in any way fun, at all. Hope it eases off soon guys.

Please can someone get a large haddock out - I'm freaking out about the scan tomorrow, I KNOW I'm ridiculous, but I was feeling all sorts of little movements for the last week and a half and today I haven't felt anything and I normally feel something after I've eaten but NOTHING. This is not a good time for it to go to sleep or something!! I know only 24hrs to wait, if you could perhaps slap me so hard with the fish I'm rendered unconscious for the rest of the day that would be fantastic, thank you very much.

Goodluckbear · 10/08/2010 10:18

It's ok, forget it, it's moving now. Or I've got really bad indigestion. Jeez, if I'm like this now, how am I going to be when it's born, I'll probably have to invest in a little mirror to hold up to it's mouth to checking it's still BREATHING every ten minutes or something.

Might have a look at paediatric first aid courses now.

LucyT66 · 10/08/2010 10:31

Welcome Dorcas - forgot to say that yesterday.

Goodluckbear - what a relief to feel movement again. That's why I'm freaking out. I've felt nothing!! At all!! EVER!!!

So I'm thinking all sorts of awful morbid thoughts. I need that hard slap.

Goodluckbear · 10/08/2010 10:36

I totally understand!! I think I started feeling it at about 20 weeks, so hopefully it'll start for you soon. I know they say wait up to 24 weeks (what with anterior placentas, or baby facing inwards) but it is such a long, long wait. And it does feel like indigestion so it's not obvious.

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 10/08/2010 13:25

Just poppin in quickly to say hi....still feeling pat n mick after the caterpillar incident (found another one this morn - they were hiding in the broccoli!!!!) Envy

Be back later to catch up properly! x

Redheadgal · 10/08/2010 14:56

Whizzing by to say hi! The move went well although everything's still in cardboard boxes and won't have t'internet til Friday so making do with crappy Vodafone dongle. Feeling absolutely shattered and laid low with a bad cold so dosed up with paracetamol and in bed :-(. Am trying to keep up with the thread.

Magic - eugh caterpillar surprise!

Gilda and Bunny - congrats on good scans

GLB - good luck for tomorrow. And everyone else who is due a scan soon. Lucy - I know just how you feel. Have felt some movement but reckon it's just indigestion. Thought I had some bubbles a while ago, but was just waking up and may have dreamed them. Am beginning to worry about my scan next Friday - am gonna need a huge fishy slap!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 10/08/2010 15:28

Having panic.......22 month old mindee had WHOPPER tantrum earlier resulting in me moving awkwardly etc having to scoop him up/stop him from running in road now I am panicking I have done myself a mischief.......???????????????????????????????????????????SadConfusedHmm

Glad move went well Redhead and wish you better with your cold.

naitimum · 10/08/2010 17:04

Hello can I join in?
I've had 2 early miscarriages this year and think I'm pregnant again now. I have a 2 year old ds. Both my previous miscarriages were at about the 5 week mark, which I know is quite early and some people go through so much worse, but I'm at about 4 and a half weeks now in this pregnancy, and am freakin out about the next couple of weeks. In both previous miscarriages, I got faint BFPs that never got any stronger and then miscarried. I tested slightly early on Sunday and got another faint BFP and now I'm scared to re-test in case it hasn't got any stronger.
So here I am, thinking every strange pain or funny feeling means it's ending...
Mia
(sorry for dramatic introduction, I thought it was better to just jump straight in with the facts!)

malteser1981 · 10/08/2010 17:55

So first of all apologies for my slack arse ways, haven't posted in ages. I have enjoyed keeping up though, and I'm pleased to see so many familiar names with good news.

Magic8, those precious little babies are safely tucked out of harms way in your pelvis so never fear!

GLB, your scan will be lovely tomorrow, lets hope for a performing ickle baybee in the perfect position. Are you finding out the flavour?

Fabulous news all round from the various scans!

I can't believe that I'm 21 weeks, it seems I've been pregnant and panicing for YEARS already, and only half way there?!! I had my scan last week, managed to resist the temptation for finding out the sex. We were just so relieved that it was a normal baby that it didn't seem to matter. Until I got home and then I reallllly wish we had - but never fear I'm having growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks so you never know. (the growth scan are not clinically indicated my friend is a midwife sonographer and offered - would you lot have said no?? Didn't think so!! Grin

I'm feeling very lucky (not rubbing it in, honest) that I've had no symptoms at all, not a sausage, so all you early pregnancy ladies out there don't panic if you do.....or don't.

I'm getting loads of movement, from about 18 weeks it was bubbles and vague kicks, now more like small kicks. But as GLB rightly said so inconsistant it has you worrying. AGAIN! I've got an anterior placenta, so I should take some of my own advice and just chill out really. My only moan - I am fat. Not just a bit, it might be a little bump type way, o no, totally fat. I look much like the loaves of bread I have been consuming at a rate of knots. White, doughy and thick in the middle!! Smile Trying to remember that it is all worth it, but having struggled with my weight for years I am finding it difficult to get bigger having been at goal weight for 5 years.......... The big tits are nice tho!!!Wink

Hope everyone else is keeping well, and those at the top of the list are partaking in a little perineal massage in advance of take off.......Wink
Wishing fabulous scans to everybody who is waiting. A big wave to Alba (half way there!!!)
Promise to be better at keeping in touch but the busy night shifts are a killer

xx

Whoops and welcome Naitimum!

northerngoldilocks · 10/08/2010 19:05

Hi everyone, special welcome for naitimum. I'm new here too - although know some names from the other thread, but you're definitely in the right place for hand holding whilst you're freaking out.

I"m 8 weeks tomorrow and am going to go for a scan. Have been increasingly stressed this week to the point today where I was wondering whether I might just not go - is ignorance bliss? Then remembered I might go insane - so back to being very scared. Just not sure I can cope with being told that the baby has stopped developing again, all seems too recent and too much of a vivid memory. On the other hand, nothing to indicate all isn't going well. Anyway, enough rambling on that.

Good luck for others who have scans tomorrow - and magic sure you'll be fine - think that the main risk is that you damage yourself to be honest, given that your muscles / joints are more prone to over stretching because of the relaxin your body produces. If you feel ok, I"m sure you'll be fine.

clareanna · 10/08/2010 20:24

Fab news to those who've had good scans - best of luck to those with scans tomorrow.

Big hello to dorcas and northern glad you're here now! and welcome to naitimum - it sounds like you've got a really nervewracking few days coming up - you're in the right place.

magic caterpillars - are they protein?! urrrgh. In previous PGs any green leafy thing like salad had me hurling, so I can't imagine if a catepillar had also appeared - I'd be on white bread only all pg!

malteser ooh, jealous of all those scans -I'm doing quite well at managing to have 4 scans and am only 13 weeks! I'm now wondering whether I can wait until 20 weeks to find out if my hunch it's a boy is right - so impatient!
I will also join you in the pilsbury dough boy lookalike competition...

samB well done on choosing Pram! Just trying to work out whether we'll need a double or not - Ds will be 3.5 but is a bit wimpy when it comes to walking long distances, and I don't want to have to carry him! I'm quite accident prone so would end up with permanently bruised ankles if I got a buggy board - decisions, decisions!

WYG - happy 10th anniversary!

muser - I lost 5lbs with Gastroenteritis at 6wks - think I've piled it all back on now though!

Well as for me - an eventful week - managed to break my toe (got up too quickly, dizzy spell and managed to kick the doorframe). Everyone at work seems to think this was a drunken mishap so maybe they haven't sussed yet...
Had a very relaxing holiday, although the first 4 days I felt dreadful - think I was so stressed with work and my impending due date from MMC that I had made myself quite ill. Couldn't sleep racing heart etc. Feel a lot better now.

Had my official NHS 12 week scan, and they are keeping me at my original dates, but have put the size in the higher percentile on my graph thing. So I'm 13+3 now.I saw my consultant who discussed my previous labour with me, and recommended an elective c-section. She said the only way she'd recommend a normal delivery would be if this baby is measuring smaller than my DS (he was 7lb10 so not much chance of that)
So...I'm booked in - ADD (rather than EDD) is thursday 3rd Feb - EEK.
very strange.

Also (Haddocks at the ready) has anyone else felt that they just don't want to tell people? I feel almost as though I'm being a bit disloyal to the grief I feel over the MMC by being happy about this one - I AM happy, but I just don't want to do they whole pregnancy / names/ is it a boy or girl chat yet..
please tell me I'm not TOTALLY bonkers Confused

Good morning Grin,

Good luck to all those with scans today, I am thinking of you. I have scans every four weeks to monitor my cyst and even though I know everything is ok I still get worried before!

Welcome Dorcus & Naitimum, it's lovely to see you. We have all worried through the early stages, it is a stressful time. I was terribly sick yet terribly worried if I ever felt any better Hmm. I knew it was idiotic but I couldn't help it!

I have huge sympathy for all those feeling sick (I love the phrase vomit comet!), it can be really hard to enjoy the early part of pregnancy when you just feel revolting and exhausted. Take good care of yourselves - for what it's worth, the only thing that kept me going was eating. Each day a particular food would appeal and if I ate that I generally felt better for a short while. Bacon was (and still is) particularly popular. I found that I need to keep my food intake up, by eating frequently. I was much more sick when I was hungry.

Goodluckbear & LucyT66 - there is always something to worry about...after the reassurance of the 12 week scan it's only a matter of weeks before movements are the thing to worry about. I have so been there. With a high anterior placenta (that no-one told me about by the way) I didn't really feel regular movements until after 23 weeks maybe 24. There were some movements but not every day. I also think that I have quite a placid sort of a baby. She has been head down for six weeks now and has just stayed in the same position. The movements that I feel are what I envisage to be her trying to stretch out a bit - a pushing down and up. Sometimes there are pokes and prods of feet and elbows too but the sensations aren't violent - I don't feel beaten up! I think that every baby is different and what you need to be aware of it what is usual for you.

Magic I'm sure that you are fine, your babes are well protected and probably still below your pelvic bone. I have been thinking of you, does two babies mean additional hormones and therefore additonal ailments? I hope not!

Hello to everyone that I haven't name checked!

I am 30 weeks today and I am Nesting. With a capital N. My house is so clean. Not just clean. But Clean. I have reorganised furniture, washed walls, cleared out loads of crap and weeded the garden. Everyone should have a baby every five years, not least so that their houses are all neat and tidy! We have done all of the baby buying now too, the pram is due to be delivered later today (I can't wait to put it up and wheel it around the living room!) and everything else is coming later in the week. I feel quiet good that I have done the shopping early enough to enjoy it rather than it be a chore. I am going to think about packing my hospital bag soon too so that when I go back to school I can have it in the boot of the car in case the baby is early. I am suffering with my back though and just muddling through. Overnight I seem to really stiffen up and everytime I turn over I wake up with severe pain on my right hip and down my leg. When I first get up it hurts to walk on my right side but after a while I seem to loosen up and it's ok. I still get odd twinges but nothing like the pain in the night. I'm going to the oesteopath this morning - she's good and I always feel better for a couple of days but then it comes back.

This post is turning out to be massive, I'll do the list and shut up! Hope everyone has a lovely day, I am looking forward to all the good scan news.

Morning all, Samantha if you've cleaned all you can and still feel the urge to polish you're welcome round for tea anytime! I have the frustration of wanting to start sorting things out but we moved house in October and this place needs a LOT of work so I just end up sitting staring at blown plaster and vast piles of mdf (which were once fitted cupboards) and thinking oh feck we SO bit off more than we can chew right now!! Confused

Popping in to say GOOD LUCK to all on the scan rota today. Looking forward to hearing from you LuckyBear, Sparkly, Northern and Lucy.

Welcome naitimum!

Malteser great to hear from you Smile

SamanthaB123 · 11/08/2010 08:38

Gilda - oops! You will get your house sorted one way or another. These things have a habit of coming together in time. When DD#1 was born we had no floor in our living room, only a bit of carpet that cement had been mixed on. She didn't walk until 15 months and it was done by then Grin! A bit later on you will find yourself with the desperate urge to get it all sorted and will be like a woman possessed. I genuinely cannot help it. I am just sorting things all the time. DH doesn't know what's hit him Grin!!! As I can't really do the lifting it all seems to involve him whether he likes it or not!

TotallyandUtterlyPaninied · 11/08/2010 09:07

Hello everyone.. I've returned.

I've not had the internet for AGES so I need a real catch up. I've missed you!

Baby is 6 months now- still breastfed and on solids and she's the happiest little thing I've ever known! She's slept through from when she was 2 week old so been very lucky on that front. She's going into her own room on Saturday night as she's still in our room in a moses basket at the mo! DS is 28 months now and he can talk properly so I'm needing to watch what I say.

I start back at work next month (as a teacher) and I'm starting telesales from home tonight, too. Work are still being funny about me having gone off on maternity leave- they've only given me a few hours, hense having to start the telesales.

Very pleased so many of us now have our LOs in our arms! Lovely names too. How are all the babies (and mums) doing? Hope all you pregnant ladies are doing well too xx

Hello Blush,

Can I join in here please? I had a mmc in March and am now 9+5 weeks exactly the date I noticed something was wrong (toilet knicker check!!) and got booked for a scan which showed babys heart had stopped (saw it 2 weeks before). Am very lucky though because I already have a little girl who will be 4 in September.

Have a private scan tomorrow. Booked it cos I didn't want the NHS dating one early then have to wait for months for 20 weeks.

Am having really bad nightmares about it all, especially as I have two days off the nausea Mon and Tues. Back today though.

TotallyandUtterlyPaninied - I am a teacher too, my head will not like the prospect of paid time off for appointments or maternity leave... can't wait to tell her if everything goes well tomorrow!!! Mwahaha! Grin

Anyway....now I have dished out the majority of my life history Blush can I play here??

Raye xx

Hi Totally - we never really met although I think I was here around the time of your birth story and slightly in awe of someone who had actually had their baby. Sounds like she is a dream, I would be very happy with sleeping through the night at 2 weeks. Any plans to have any more yet Smile?

Effilump Sorry the list was my fault...it had become a little long and unruly so we started again a few weeks back. It is lovely to see you, how are you doing? We are due almost at the same time! I'm going to repost the list as you are missing from Muser's version - probably cross posted. List maintenace is very hard work!!!

Muser - sorry if I lost your day Blush, how are you feeling?

Welcome Rayeraye, it's lovely to see you. I've added you onto the list! Will you check that I've got your details correct, I sort of assumed based on what you had said! When is your EDD? I am a teacher too, there are loads of us on here! I am going back (without teaching responsibilty) for all of September and really just want to be at home.

Hello - welcome to Rayeraye.

Just a quick update - had a scan this morning, saw a baby and a heartbeat - also got moved forward 6 days on dates so now almost 9 weeks - which is great given I've been watching each one pass for the past 4 weeks! I'm so relieved its untrue. Obviously doesn't mean I won't manage to get similarly worked up for the 12 week scan, but my last pregnancy stopped just before 6 weeks (although discovered at 9 weeks) so I'm much further on than that.

Hope everyone else's scans today go well. Will pop back in later

Welcome Rayeraye and Naitimum!!! Glad you have found this thread, it is great for offloading anxieties! Congrats on your pregnancies.

Totally!! It's like you're a legend on the thread, "Totally's Grads Part III" - thank you for coming back to update us, your little girl sounds adorable, it makes me feel really hopeful!

So I had the anomaly scan - and it was fine!! Phew! We didn't find out if it was a boy or girl, I actually forgot about that I was so relieved it was all normal. He/she was really busy wriggling and kicking. The only thing unusual is that I have an extra bit of placenta, i.e. I have my proper placenta high up, and then another "lobe" lower down. She didn't seem to think it was a problem, just have to remember to check it comes out when I give birth. Anyone else got that?

Northerngoldilocks - so glad it went well for you today too, it is very much a relief to see everything developing, and nice to fastforward a bit on dates!

Clareanna - ouch, hope your toe is feeling better. Sounds sore. And I'm not even going to get the haddock out on that about not feeling like telling people, because I feel the same - you tell people and they get excited and start talking about boy/girl, etc and you just want to say "but I'm really nervous I just want it to be ok!!" Nobody else has any doubt that it's going to be fine - which is true, but not how it feels post mc...

Muser - not long to go, I hope the weekend passes really quickly and will be watching out on Monday for your scan news.

Malteser - due date buddy!! Good to hear from you, hope you're not too knackered by the night shifts.

Waves to everyone else, hope you are all doing ok, especially those feeling sick and those feeling anxious,

xxx
