Just got BFP, worried about cramps - help

Hi

I tested 2 days after I was due and got my bfp which I'm really happy about as I had a mmc in Jan which really floored me. However 3 hours after testing (which I did yesterday at 6.30am) when I went to the loo there was a bright red blood streak when I wiped (sorry if tmi). So for rest of day I spent day in the loo (!!) but nothing else, no blood or red or anything and nothing last night or this morning. I've got mild cramps on and off, like mild period pain, but I remember having this when I had my DD (she's 2) but I'm worrying myself sick now that something is going to go wrong. I'm sure I read somewhere that on the day you are due to be on your period you sometimes can spot a little, and it was the skantist amount to be honest. I'm guessing 15 dpo it's too late to have implantation bleed but could it be the egg snuggling into the side of my womb that's caused this? Any advice or can anyone relate to this.

Thanks, am really worried so any responses appreciated.

firstly, congratulations on you BFP

I think it is normal to have some spotting, it may have been implantation bleeding.

I had bleeding when my period was due, and then again every couple of weeks till I was 14ish weeks - and everything is fine (although I had no bleeding with 1st pg)

I really hope you can relax a bit, if you remain concerned, I would give your GP a call - however, its probably best to wait it out and see what happens. Stay calm though and try to relax

I know it must be worrying but lots of women bleed a bit around the time their period is due and it's fine.

I didn't know I was pregnant until I was almost 9 weeks as I had what I thought was a light period the first month (with period pains) and my mum said the same thing happened when she was pregnant with me.

Hope this reassures you a bit but understand the anxiety, don't think it goes away either.

i had no bleeding at 4 weeks, but i did have spotting at 8 and 11.5 weeks. So I am putting that down to when my periods would have been due.
try not to worry, just hold tight and relax. A spot or two of blood shouldnt be anything to worry about.

PS Is it "cramp" that is painful, or is it more like a tugging feeling - like someone is pulling an elastic band inside you?

Hi, sounds like we are around the same stage, proud mother to a cluster of cells! I just got a BFP two days ago and am around 18 DPO. I've been getting cramps as well but no bleeding. Yesterday I had this dull ache in my lower back for most of the afternoon and some twinges but it has gone away now. In fact, I'm now worried because I don't have cramps as I did yesterday, which shows you how paranoid this pg stuff can make you!!

From everything I've read cramps are perfectly normal in the first stages as the womb is stretching and growing. I felt completely exhausted from cramps yesterday and then couldn't sleep last night but I feel fine today. I'm just going with the flow for now and hoping it's all sticking where it needs to stick. Obviously this must be a lot harder when you've already had an MC but try not to think about it too much and try to distract yourself (says she, posting on MN on work lunchbreak...)

yep, cramps are normal, and actually expected, but not if they are very sore. my cramps, as i was getting at earlier, were more like tugging and stretching rather than menstrual cramps.

I definitely had period pains at the beginning of my pregnancy. Almost exactly like period pains. Then got sort of stretching pains.

I've been having extremely painful cramps on and off, am almost ten weeks in. Have been told it's nothing to worry about, but I know not panicking can be a lot easier said than done when it's something you're actually experiencing.

Hi, i'm roughly seven weeks pregnant, have DS and a DD already, four mc's prior to that. With DS had a small bleed and brown discharge at about 5/6 weeks, nothing with DD, and then with this pregnancy, light bleed (lasting about a day) at 5+ weeks. With each pregnancy, have had mild but very uncomfortable cramps up till about 7 weeks, whereupon I start to feel more nauseous and tired. Completely agree about the tugging sensation inside too, feels like every muscle is being stretched. With my miscarriages, bleeding obviously became a lot stronger and cramps very bad, after days and days of spotting and funny bits of discharge (sorry if tmi!). However, I have always been told by medical professionals that some people can have bleeding throughout their pregnancies with no consequences. With all my miscarriages, had the gut feeling that something was wrong. With ok pregnancies, I have obvy been neurotic, but quietly hopeful...Hope this is of interest and reassaurance!

Thank you so much for replying, you've really put my mind at rest. yes it does feel like a tugging sensation more than anything, like I've pulled a muscle at the gym, that kind of thing. I feel a lot better. No more bleeding so far, touch wood, so I'm just going to stay positive, what will be will be. It's good to hear that others are at a similar stage to me, and so reassuring that I'm not alone. thank god for mumsnet. However I'm sure I'll just keep symptom spotting and panicking for a bit more...
