Hi i am 5 weks pregnant and suffered a miscarriage at 4 weeks in april, it started with a pain in my right shoulder and then the following morning i started bleeding. I have shoulder pain again and am worried its the start of another one. Has anyone else had this pain but gone on to have successful pregnancy?? The pain is in my right shoulder blade.

hi, if its in your shoulder blade its most likely to be a pulled muscle. shoulder pain in preg is usually on the actual shoulder and that also doesnt always mean something bad

congrats on your pregnancy it is an anxiety-ridden time isnt it!! especially if you have had losses i have had 6 MCs and im now 8+3 with another (i have a DD aswell) i know the anxiety well unfortunately if you are worried i say go the GP or ring the EPAU for some more advice/reassurrance

good luck!!

thanks

when are you due?? im early feb it feels weird to say that too!! im usually back on the TTC wagon by now!!

i'm not 100% sure as i only have a 21 day cycle so according to the due date calendar 2nd march so counting back (!!!) 4+6 days. have phoned EPAU and they can't do anything until 8 weeks so its just a case of sitting tight really and crossing everything

If you get pain on your left shoulder, call the EPAU back as the one thing they can do before 8 weeks is check that it's not ectopic.

I don't know anything about shoulder pain during pregnancy but I just wondered if there was anyway it could be indigestion? I know I always get it in my left shoulder, hopefully it is something simple like that? Good luck and congratulations to you.

sam26oscar · 30/06/2010 14:55

trhank you doodleydoo, i don't think it could be indigestion as i hadn't eaten anything far too early in the day for that!!! It seems to be subsiding now and i did ANOTHER hpt and it was an even stronger line than the previous 4 [embarressed] i have spent far too much money on them!!! But it reassured me and that evens out any expense!!

Good, sorry - just wanted to put all the options on the table for you. Hope it all goes well foryou!

Shoulder pain can be a sign of ectopic. Did you mention it when you called the EPU? I don't want to alarm you, it could well be completely unrelated, but it's a good idea to get it checked out just to rule out the possibility.

sam26oscar · 01/07/2010 09:13

hi havingkittens, yes that was my main point in calling them as i too had heard it could be sign of ectopic but tbh they weren't that concerned, especially as the nurse said that a midwife would call me to have a chat and they never bothered.
