HI ALL.
I HAD A DATING SCAN LAST WEEK(IM 15+2). NOTICED ON MY NOTES WHEN I GOT HOME THAT IN MY NOTES THEY PUT- PROBABLE SMALL AMNIOTIC BAND SEEN HIGH ALONG RT SIDE OF UTERUS. ALL 4 LIMBS SEEN.I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS MEANS AND DONT SEE MY MIDWIFE TILL 2 WEEKS TIME. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF ITS A PROBLEM OR ANYTHING. WITH MY PREVIOUS BIRTH I HAD A RETAINED PLACENTA THAT WAS MAUALLY REMOVED WITHOUT ANY PAIN RELIEF AND HAD PROBLEMS AFTER. SO I HAVNT GOT MUCH FAITH IN THEM TELLING ME IF IT IS SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT. ANY IDEAS AND WILL THEY BE LOOKING FOR ANYTHING AT MY 20 WEEK SCAN. THANKS ALOT GEMX

an amniotic band is a strand of mebrane which is stretching into the amniotic cavity. It dissapears in subsequent scans in 70% of pregnancies. If it doesn't dissapear you would have to be monitored, as it can cause entangledment or effect growth of the baby or cause early labour. If the band is small and not attached to the baby at all, there is less risk. Your notes don't mention any other abnormality so its highly unlikely you will have any problems.
