I'm 27 wks and have been getting pain under my left rib for about a mth now. I only get it at night but it's keeping me awake all night and has got worse.

It starts after about 10 minuntes of being in bed, if I turn over it's still there and the only way I can describe it is it starts off as a dull ache and then a sharp pain it also feels like pins and needles at times. The only thing that will ease it a bit is when I lie on my back but I can't do this for long.

I've spoke to my midwife and she just said that it's quite normal, she also told me that it's just my belly expanding and everything moving up.

This is my second pregnancy and I did not have this with my daughter I know every pregnancy is different, just wondering if anybody else has experienced this and what were you thoughts. Thanks in advanced

It couldn't be heartburn, could it?

Another thing I've had that sounds similar is a myofascial trigger point (muscle knot) in my back that referred pain to that area because of how it pressed on nerves. I was getting that pain doing pilates (when not pregnant) and my massage therapist found the exact knot and released it.

I get that!! Like a dull ache when lying on my side, but gets worse... Don't know what it is, but its annoying!! (I'm only just coming up to 25 weeks, though)

Hi Japhrimel I do suffer with heartburn a lot but the pain I get under my rib I dont think is related. I've tried rubbing the area but when I do the pain is even worse.

Hi Moonstorm I know very annoying I've have it for about a mth now but it's gradually getting worse. Wished it would just go away so I could get some sleep.
