Im 18 weeks pregnant tomorrow, with my 2nd.

I dont feel pregnant, and although I have felt the odd flutter / swishy movement, I dont feel the baby kick. Lots of people smile at me and say oooh bet your feeling lots of movement now etc, and Im not at all.

Also, my bump feels really small. With my DD i was massive, and had a huge bump and could feel lots of movement. However when i lay down, I practically have a flat tummy.

When I had my 16 week MW appt, she did comment on my size, I asked if it was normal to feel so small, and she said "weelllllll....we'll not worry till you;ve had your 20 week scan"

when I gave her a worried look she followed it up with "we dont measure fundal height til 24 weeks any way [cheery smile from her, worried face from me]

So...

I am 41+2 with DC2 and I felt exactly the same as you - much smaller than before and I remember feeling equally anxious about the kicking - I didn't feel proper, regular kicks till at least 20 weeks (and they haven't stopped since!). I think a lot of it is becasue you don't have the time to lie down and 'feel' the movement when you have another child to look after.

Try not to worry

I was tiny with my first, and had lots and lots if scans sue to it, my mw told me because of my build she never expected me to be huge and was expecting me to have a small baby. I had my DD at 39+1 and she was 5lb 13 and very healthy.

This time round I am 23 weeks now and feel bigger than I did when I had my DD.
I was worried about the movements this time round as I hadn't felt them and was reading everywhere that you should feel them earlier. I didn't feel anything until after my 20 week scan, the scan must have annoyed him, as he moved like mad and has continued to give me a reassuring move daily now. Try not to worry, my 20 week scan showed an anterior placenta which may have been the cause for the delay, my movements are all low down now.

i didnt feel kicking til 18 weeks this time, and a week later I still think the movements are very sporadic. Some days it moves a lot, and others it hardly moves at all. eg today I've been up for 5 hrs, and dont think I've felt it today

I am almost 22 weeks with DS2 and was feeling the same - my bump is much smaller, and the proper kicks came in only about 1 week ago. Between 18.5 weeks and 21 weeks they were very few and very irregular, and made me worry so much! However now at 22 weeks I am much more relaxed, because I feel movements more regularly even if the bump is still smallish (my colleagues haven't notice yet that I am preggie! ) Enjoy, the movements will come!!

i'm the same, from that point of view. Are you overweight at all? In MY case, I believe the slightly extra layer of fat I have sort of disappears when I lie down (as it always has done).

My tummy is almost flat when I lie down too (25 weeks).

I expect it depends what position your baby is in.

Have you got an EPU you can go to for an extra scan? I'm not saying you need one but ours is a drop in one where if you're feeling anxious for any reason they will scan you would your midwife refer you?
