Tender/Sore bump?

I'm 21 weeks and only have a small bump at the mo. However, I've started noticing that its feeling rather tender/sore. Not all the time, just if I put pressure on it or knock it. For example, if I'm washing up at the kitchen sink and I lean on the sink with my tummy, I have to recoil quickly coz im aware it feels very uncomfortable. Or if I reach across myself and knock my tummy with my arm.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a norml part of pregnancy/bump development to protect baby or should I be a bit more worried?

I've had this a little, I think it's your tummy muscles as they battle against the ever expanding bump that is threatening to break out. Mines been getting like that this week and my bump has been getting bigger.

Can you give your midwife a quick ring if you still feel concerned? (this is my first baby so I'm just assuming these things are normal).

I had the same at about your stage (now 27 weeks). Also have a small bump. I put it down to things stretching - have had phases of twinging and muscle/ligament pain in the past and then it's eased for a while until the available room has been taken up and things need to shift and stretch again. But, yes things really were quite tender when I was 21 weeks. Had another tender phase last week and things have settled down again. But if you are worried, do give your MW a call - that's what they are there for.
