Any one had a sweep?

I am 40+3, and had a sweep this afternoon.
I have already had a show on Friday, and even more blood and stuff since this.
I've been getting irregular low cramps around pubic area.
Anyone any stories if they work, how long they take to work?

I had two in first preg, neither of which worked and ended up being induced. My sister-in-law had one though and went into labour following day. Your show/cramps etc sound promising, make sure your bag's packed just in case it's around the corner. Good luck!

I had a sweep at one week overdue about 3pm in afternnon. Walked out of the consulting room with bad 'period pain' type cramps which got progressively stronger. By that night was being kept awake by contractions. Managed at home til about nine pm the next day when went to hospital. Ds born at 3pm the next day, so 48 hoursish after the sweep.

Would deffo opt for one again if I was overdue and cervix etc was 'favourable' as it was last time.

I've had sweep with all three.

First - sweep at 40+7 had baby 7 days later.

Second - sweep at 40 had baby next day.

Third - sweep at 39+6 had baby 6 days later.

Who knows if they helped? All babies born naturally though.

I'm sure though that lots of walking does help as it bounces babies head around on the cervix. But rest plenty too!

I had two, at 40+4 and another at 41 weeks. My waters broke the day after the last one and had low cramping straight afterwards. Good luck!

Well, the sweep worked for me!!
I had it at 4pm monday.
Had the baby at 10am the next morning!!
I think if I hadn't have gone to bed monday night at 9.30pm, and kept walking instead I would have had her the same night!

I had one with ds2 at 41wks. mw came to me at 9pm, nothing happened, went to bed, woke up just before 2 with contractions, and he was born at 3.30. So def worked for me! (or maybe he was just ready to come out and it was all coincidence!)
