Slow fetal heartrate and slow growth, I'm really worried I'm going to miscarry

I'm somewhere between 7 and 8 weeks pregnant and had a scan today. The dr compared it with last week's scan and said there was slower growth than he expected and that the fetal heartrate was slow. I had some slight bleeding at the weekend and that plus surfing the next to find out more has left me terrified that I'm going to miscarry or that this isn't a viable pregnancy. It's taken 18 months and fertility drugs to get to this point. I've got to go back in a week for another scan and don't know how I'm going to wait that long.

Reallygrumpy, so sorry for you at this worrying time. The sad thing is that there is nothing that you can do and what will be will be. Try and take it easy and be positive. In my case i had much the same diagnosis with DD2 bleeding, and lots of bleeding on the scan around the fetus - added to this they thought that her heartbeat was quite slow as well but as i had not had a previous scan to that 8 week one they had nothing to compare the growth with but she was a little on the small side.

She is now 15 and revising her GCSE's in the other room so it can work out you just have to accept that there is nothing you can do to influence the outcome of a pregnancy this early on. I really hope that it all works out for you and you have good news next week, let us know. Big unmumsnetty hugs for you.
