16 weeks pregnant and for last few weeks nose has felt stuffed up - actually nothing stuffing it up (eg nothing when I blow my nose) but feels horrid. Maybe hayfever or maybe a pregnancy symptom - any cures anyone?

31 weeks and I still have this. I have ended up very thirsty at night because I breathe out of my mouth. I don't have any solutions - sorry.

maxpower · 28/06/2010 13:08

it's one of the many joyous symptoms of pregnancy that you can get. I had it for the whole of the 42 weeks I was pg last time - this time, I haven't.

I found the breathe right strips really helped at night.

BTW the 'cure' is having the baby! It goes almost straight away.

I have this too. ENT doctor said it is normal with pregnant women (I was seeing him to check up on an old sinus problem) and suggested salt water sprays. I've also tried carvol capsules or olbas oil on the pillow at night as that's when it's worst. Like Sal321 I wake up with a dry mouth every morning - horrible, it's like having a hangover but without the fun.

hello, ive had this a lot of my pregnancy too,(im 38 weeks now) and still here with it today- just very snotty and producing alot. think its one of those things to get used to. sorry.i have wanted to drink alot of milk during the last bit of my pregnancy, and am wondering if this hasnt helped the old mucous!

tomhayley · 28/06/2010 20:34

oh, just realised you mean theres nothing there when you blow..sorry i think i have the opposite, take care

Me too! Am on a constant bogey-hunt in mission to keep the ol' passages clear! Had the same with first preg too so think it's a pretty common complaint.

yep, the salt water nasal spray can help a little bit - Calpol nasal drops (meant to be for babies)
It's rhinitis of pregnancy you have. Mine comes and goes, but I had it a lot till about 16 weeks

yellowflowers · 29/06/2010 11:00

Thanks - I will try the calpol nasal drops and saltwater spray.

I have this - started almost immediately and I had it last time too. I find the Calpol spray good at night and is easier to get hold of than the sea spray.

Wow, I have this too! This is my second pregnancy and I had it with my first - I thought it was just hayfever or something. No cures sorry - but I will try some of the things that other people have suggested.
