I am 34 weeks and sickness has returned, I had bad sickness up until around 20 weeks but then felt better. Nothing that worked then is working now - small meals just make me hugnry and have indigestion, indigestion remedies make me throw up. Is it a different sort of sickness - are there different ways of coping with it? I googled it and all I could come up with was early pregnancy sickness

It sounds more likely to be hyperemesis gravidarium. There are medications that the GP can give you, different ones depending on the severity of it, usually the order is stemetil, metaclopramide, onadestrin. I know how awfully miserable HG is, I have had it in every pregnancy. I currently have 3 dc's, and am pg with my 4th. You need to make sure that you are keeping drinks down, and if not, go and see your GP, and don't be fobbed off.

Also, can you ask your MW to check your urine for ketones, as this will be a good indication of how badly the sickness is affecting you. But take heart from the fact that although you feel like poo, your baby is still getting what it needs from the little you do keep down, as it all goes to the baby first, leaving you feeling run down and tired, but still letting baby grow. I had HG from 16 wks - 28wks in my 1st pg, and DD was 6lb12 (at almost 5 weeks preemie, induced due to pre-eclampsia), I was still throwing up in labour with DS1 and he was 7lb7 (on his due date), and the same with DS2 and he was 8lb2 (2 days late).

thanks - I do have ketones in my urine, I have been on iron tablets because I am anemic but they are very hard to keep down!. I am on labetalol for high blood pressure and have a history of preeclampsia so anytime I go in they totally ignore anything apart from my blood pressure as long as that is under control they dont want to really talk abotu anythign else!.
