is it normal to keep getting pins and needles in hands due to water retention? my hands are quite badly swollen and my joints in my fingers are really tender and im finding it painful to grip anything...everytime i wake up in the night for a wee (about 6 times!!) my hands are numb and they go numb when i drive...is this normal? im 35 weeks xx

me too me too!!!

I'm also 35wks, I have ankles like tree trunks, toes like cocktail sausages and hands fingers so puffy they n longer look (or feel) like my own!!

I've been told I have carpal tunnel in both hands and theres nothing they can do to ease - bit of a bugger cos it HURTS!! As for my ankles, mw and consultant said it's normal but they will look into it further if any other extreme or abnormal symptoms arise - assuming for pre-eclampsia?

Ain't it glam being pregnant?

Me too! i went to the doctors cause i kept waking up every two hours with dead or painful hands. She recommended splints to wear on my wrists at night and this has made a huge difference. Apparently if you keep them straight the nerve in the wrist does not get pinched which is what causes pain and numbness.
I highly recommend this if you are suffering. Now i only wake in the night once or twice to wee!

I'd call her and ask if she is able to see you any earlier? Swelling can be a sign of pre-eclampsia, all she needs to do is check your urine for protein and check to see if your BP is normal, swelling can also indicate other things aswell so it's always a good idea to get it checked out.

seriously if this is a new thing, or is worse than normal, go and get BP checked. Called labour ward and explain, just op in a get checked, better to be safe and feel a little than regret it later.

just spoke to a midwife at the clinic she said its all normal and to wait till friday for my appointment...iv also got lumps under myarms which she said sounds like blocked milk ducts so to be honest im feeling pretty crap and on the verge of tears...the numbness in my hands is carpel tunnel syndrome and nothing can be done for that either...first time iv felt this emotional for a long time sick of feeling like crap now
