Hello, this is my first post on Mumsnet.

DH and I discovered that I was pregnant, both v.happy and excited, if a little shocked and in awe that a life is growing inside.

We have both been giggling at the size of my bump. I have not eated all the pies...just some. Any other ladies with large bumps before 2nd tremester?

1st scan not due for two weeks so just worrying and wondering. Any advice from you lovely wise people would be much appreciated!

Could be you, could be two
Congratulations.
No point in worrying, enjoy and all will become clear at your scan.

Hi, my first post too. I'm 15 weeks but have had what feels like a huge belly from 7 weeks. Was a trim (ish) size 10 but now far from that! Hasn't helped that feeling sick means I keep wanting stodge but hoping to slow the spread now I don't feel so bad ;-)

japhrimel · 24/06/2010 19:59

I popped early too and I knew it wasn't extra fat as I started off losing weight not gaining! I think everyone varies - there's another first timer who got big early at my NCT group, but then there's some women ready to pop who look hardly any bigger!

I found it good to track my weight myself as they don't worry about doing this at MW appointments now. It was reassurring to me that I didn't put on any more than the guideline weight gain during the first trimester, despite the huge bump and boobs!

A lot of it is retained water. I am not six weeks until tomorrow but to look at me today you'd think I was at least 20 weeks.

Phew! I feel alot better reading your useful words and advice. Nice to know that my being slim does not make a 'large bump' unusual Thank you ladies.

Let us know if it is twins! mine are due in November. Not sure if my bump is normal or not, whatever normal is! Congrats to you and your DH

JodieO · 27/06/2010 19:48

Look at my profile and you can see me at 12 weeks (I think). Even the dr mentioned that it might be twins, it wasn't though, just the one in there!

starshaker · 27/06/2010 19:51

Theres a pic on my profile of me at 13 weeks. I was HUGE

There is 2 in there though

starshaker · 27/06/2010 19:52

The 4th pic down by the way lol. The top pic was 27 weeks

MrsDrOwenHunt · 27/06/2010 20:30

shit star i was gonna say what have u got in there adults!! then i saw u were 27 weeks in top pic!! i showed @ 6 weeks!!

emmalis · 27/06/2010 22:11

Hi all I've been big early with all of mine so far. My DD1 i had an obvious bump at about 10 weeks, with DD2 it was suddenly there at 8 weeks. This one i'm about 6/7 weeks we think & my clothes are already tight. I'm a big girl anyway but by the time DD2 arrived by c-section at 39 weeks i could hardly walk from the hospital bed to the coffee machine or loo I was massive.

nattiecake · 27/06/2010 22:25

i was big early too, though very small in comparison to now!! dont want to think about how much bigger i'm going to be...!! anyway, practically as i got my BFP i went POP and there was a bump!!

i'm still convinced, 26 weeks in and two scans down, that i'll be in the labour ward and they'll say "oh look, we missed one!"

hasna · 01/07/2010 14:42

im 2 months preg and was wearing a size 14 trousers.... now i have to wear size 16-18. i look around 3 months. all my other children weighted 4 to 4.5kg.

Philomeena · 11/07/2010 13:16

Hello all, my first scan is tomorrow! Hopefully results may explain v.large bump! Truth is I am nervous - what will they find in there???

Philomeena this is my third but at 10 weeks I feel enormous and in that definite "high up, coming straight out from under the boobs" way. Am beginning to wonder if either I have my dates wrong or there is more than one in there. Lord knows when I'll find out; local midwives appear to be using 3rd times mum as a costcutting exercise . Booking in appointment on Tues; no appointment for 12 week scan yet....

MissCKitty · 12/07/2010 10:09

Hi Ladies, This post has been really interesting for me and has shown me that I'm not a total freak. I am 11+2 and have had a distinct bump for the last 2 weeks. It starts under my boobs like a proper pregnancy bump not just a spare tyre lol I have already had several people ask if its twins but my early scan at 8 weeks showed just one heartbeat Although my DP did remind me the other day that he was an 11lb5 baby so I guess I'm growing a big 'un

balletmoo · 12/07/2010 12:45

Hello all! I was a pre-pregnancy 8-10 and grew out of a huge number of my pre-preg clothes by 8 weeks!! In fact, that was how I thought to test I was pregnant: I was running 20k a week and everything was getting tighter and tighter...

Now, at nearly 27 weeks, barely a day passes when someone comments that I must be due soon (not really!) or carrying twins (I've had 6 scans and bloods show no indication of multiples, so no again!). It was funny to start with but it's started to grate...

I went to a dinner function the other week and at the end of it this couple came up to me and introduced themselves - it turns out that she was a senior midwife and they had been trying to guess how far gone I was. They had guessed 35 weeks. I replied that it was actually 24. "Are you sure you aren't carrying twins?" they said. I commented that after 6 scans (the last one done by a consultant) I would expect that they would have spotted that by now. So then she comes out with "Oh, you should check that you don't have a condition that results in too much amniotic fluid". The cheek of the woman!!! Why couldn't she just accept that some people are bigger than others??!

I am currently 10 weeks and 3 days pregnant and feel HUGE! my weight 2 weeks ago was around 69kg and has now gone up to 69.9kg in just 2 weeks and I am freaking out. I feel wide and my tummy and legs have definately piled on the weight. Does anybody else feel like this at just over 10 weeks pregnant and feel like they have gained too much weight in the first trimester? Thank you in advance for your replies Smile
