Confusion over due date- what do you think?

Hi all,

I was wondering if you can help me clear something up?

I went for an early scan last Week where I was told that I was 7 +1, therefore making me 8 +1 today. I know I can't be any earlier than that as I found out a month ago when I must have been 4 weeks-ish, plus a clear blue digital said between 4-5 weeks which would make sense. I was told by both my doctor and the sonographer that my due date was 1st Feb, but by my calculations (and several other tools on the internet), that puts me a week behind, and says that i'm 7 +1 TODAY which can't be right (i've got paperwork from the scan that actually says '7+1' for last week)

As far as i'm concerned (and my notes!) i'm 8 +1 today, so surely that makes my due date the 25th January or thereabouts?

Very confused!

Did the doc and sono go off your last period? When was that? would that put you at 7+1 today?

Otherwise I have no idea sorry!

Well I'm 9+4 and my due date is 21st January. Confirmed at scans, booking appt and internet "tools"! So 1st Feb sounds about right by my calculations... however obviously there is a window either side of your "due" date so I wouldn't worry too much I am expecting to be put back a bit at my 12 week scan to be honest, at such an early stage dating from scans isn't necessarily accurate anyway.

I have just worked it out as your due date being 1st Feb! You are counting 40 weeks right? Besides, it is always better for them to think its a little later rather than earlier than you do, as wont force an induction til 14 days over their EDD rather than yours.

MiniMarmite · 24/06/2010 14:13

Scan dating is not considered accurate that early so, until your 12 w scan, I would go by the date your last period gives you.

My LMP dates and 12 week scan dates have been different by 6 days both times anyway...and then DS was later than both!

Once you get to your 12w scan they will go by that date as that is considered the most accurate.

If you are due on 1st Feb then you would be 8+2 today so both sonographers due date and the amount you think you are pregnant are right. Counting backwards from 40 weeks on 1st Feb.

Better to have a later date as it gives you longer to go over before they want to induce you so don't argue!

Mine was changed by 1 day when I had 12wk scan and that's what is written everywhere so just go with it!

Congratulations

iv just (very sadly!) calculated 40 weeks back from 1st of feb and it shows you would be 8 weeks now like you say so the due date seems rite to me.

CheeseChomper · 24/06/2010 20:32

Aaaah, thanks everyone, feel better now and not confused! To be fair, I didn't count backwards (Thanks Yummy Mummy and cinnamon! ), but went on the BBC website preggers calculator and think it might be wrong as when I type in due date of 1st Feb, it comes up a week behind

Unfortunately don't know when my last period was, as was on a pill that basically had stopped my periods, and when I came off to ttc, got pg before I even had my first one. Haven't had an offical period since Feb in fact!
