How long did your scans last?

I had my 20 week scan today and everything was normal - so v happy! I was surprised though because, like my dating scan, both lasted 5 minutes. Is that how long scans typically take? I was glued to the screen and sad that I didn't have longer...

My 22 week scan lasted about 15/20 mins with ds1, ds2 was about 5/10 mins max.

Mine were a bit longer, perhaps 10 mins.

Perhaps they were very busy...or wanted to knock off early for the football! (sure this wasn't the case of course)

Congratulations!

5 minutes does seem very quick but maybe baby was in a really good position.

Ah, well the scan was just before the football was about to start so the thought did cross my mind! Maybe it was unusually short then, but just happy everything was fine...

I had my 20 week scan today too, and it lasted about 15-20 minutes. It might have been longer than yours because the baby kept wriggling, and because the sonographer spent quite a bit of time looking at my low-lying placenta. Our scan picture is dreadful - the baby wouldn't pose for a good one!

My 20wk scan was 45 mins but the guy did spend an enormous amount of time showing DH all sorts of bits of DD2 - it was a new machine I think he was just playing with it and I was his first scan with it.

all of mine (dating and 20 week) for all 3 pregnancies took at least 20 minutes

in fact, ds3's 20 week scan took about 45 mins because he was not being co-operative

why don't you ask your midwife about it? on my 20 week scans they checked so mnay things i'm sure they couldn't have done it all in 5 minutes

My 12 week scan lasted almost an hour - at King's they are very meticulous about every possible measurement, checking various markers etc. The 20 week one was also rather long - ca. 45 min. The most recent growth scan was about 20 min - just tracking a few measurements.
