i've been taking iron tablets for a few weeks now and my poo turned the obligatory black. it usually stays black until i stop taking them but this time it's gone back to the normal colour. has this happened to anyone else? does this mean that my body is not absorbing the iron? i am taking the tablet swith oj etc so don't really understand.

any advise ladies?

Oh goodness, iron tablets are vile. Can't you take a liquid supplement instead? Fewer gross side effects.

Ive finished taking them, it’s been about a week. Still a bit dark, so I’m worried. Not sure what normal colour should be as I’ve been on them for 3 months

Yes, it's normal, my doctor informed me it would happen. Taking it with any citric juice or fruit helps increase absorption. But even if you don't, the poo turns black.

I’ve come off them for a week, but stools are still abit dark not as black as they were whilst on them but still abit ? Help

Yes, it's the other way round, so black is the iron passing through you. Less black= more absorbed.
