Which hospital to choose in Manchester?!

Hello all!

I am 6 weeks pregnant and live in South Manchester. Saw the GP for the first time yesterday who offered between Wythenshawe or Withington but said delivery would have to be in Wythenshawe. However we are just in the process of buying a house (talk about timing!) and will be moving to North Manchester (Eccles) very soon. Does anyone know what hospital choices I'll be given there as am considering registering with a GP there so can have my booking appointment at the right place! I know Hope Hospital's maternity unit it going to close but are people still being referred to there as it looks like it has a good reputation.

Thanks for your help in advance!

I had my first in North Manchester General and it was very nice. Eccles would be nearer to Hope though.

If you decide to stay in South Manchester, I had DS2 in Wythenshawe and it was an excellent experience.

Good luck!

Sam I am preggo with DC2 and delivering at Stepping Hill and someone i know is preggo with DC1 living in Salford, she is registered at Hope and says it is already getting a little delapidated and forgotten about...due to it closing! I don't know if that would affect your decision but thought I would let you knwo what I've heard!!

If it helps your decision North Manchester has just had a brand new maternity unit completed, due to open on a phased basis over the summer. I've been visiting a relative at North Manchester and the new unit looks fantastic.

Hi I moved hospitals when I was 18 wks, I'm now 26 wks and have to say the care I've been given as an inpatient and outpatient at Hope (due to complication with my pregnancy) has been excellent.

Good luck x
