Ive been having a lot of blood tests done lately and they have picked up i am deficient in vit b12. They are now doing more tests for pernicious anaemia. Is it likely to cause any problems with the babies at all? What can i do to get my vit b12 lvls back up?

Anything else that you feel might me relevant?

Thank you for the link. Cant see anything about pregnancy though. Need to see if my babies are at risk of anything because of it

Did you not check the complications section? There was info on pregnancy complications there. Basically it's the risk of neural tube defects.

I have pernicious anemia, and have done for six years, I am pg with my first and my treatment is the same as it was before I got pregnant. I am under the care of a consultant who has checked my levels, they were fine. My consultant has assured me that my baby is at no risk.
I have done research on the internet and there is no evidence that the injections we receive can harm baby thru breast milk either, no evidence to say it doesn't either but it is a vitamin not sure how it can.
If it is pernicious anemia you have there is nothing you can do to 'up' levels orally as the condition means that your stomach doesn't absorb the vitamin.
Hope this helps.x

thank you storm. That helps to know that its not gonna cause any bad effects. Im assuming if the twins had any defects it would have been picked up on 1 of the many scans ive had aready. Supose i just need to wait and see what these results say. Feels like all i seem to do at the moment is get blood taken and wait for results
