20 week scan

I have just received an appointment for my 20 week scan which I have had to reschedule as I'll be on holiday. The receptionist at the hospital wouldn't let me reschedule for when I get back saying that it would be too late for my 20 week scan. So I now have an appointment next friday when I will be 18+2- is this going to be too early for the sonographer to do the full detailed scan and to sex the baby? I only had my '12 week scan' last week

I think strictly they like it to be 19 weeks but can you ring your mw? I am not sure I see rationale about it being too late post holiday .

How odd. I'll be having mine at 22 weeks. Agree with Poppy to ring your mw.

i would call the midwife too, i had mine at 22 weeks with ds.

Sounds like an unhelpful receptionist to me. Obviously better not to leave it too late in the (very unlikely) case there is something they need to check further. I had both of my scans at least a week late I think. And, I think the sex question depends a lot on where the baby is facing and how obvious it is (usually a lot more blatant if there is a little willy waving about!)

Had a letter through today which was a completely different date to the new appointment. Gave them a ring and was told by a different receptionist that you have to be at least 18+6 before you can have your 20 week scan, so the first receptionist was unhelpful and giving out duff information. All sorted now though and I will be 19+5 when I have my scan

I had my scan at 19 weeks (by LMP) or 19+4 (by dating scan) and they were able to complete all the checks really easily.

Pretty crap receptionist though.
