First trimester weight gain

Hi, i'm currently 7+3 and feeling sick constantly as well as an upset tummy. Now, to combat the nausea i'm having to eat very regularly which is fine, however, I can't seem to get much healthy food down me. Everything that I can get down without it making me want to barf is unhealthy!

I reckon I have put on weight so far and I feel really guilty. I had horrendous sickness with dd1 5 years ago, but lost 2 1/2 stones and ended up in hospital, so this is all new to me. To be fair I am making a conscious effort to force food down me as I can't afford to get into the state I was last time. But is putting on weight in the first trimester usual? When I feel better I plan to have a MUCH healthier diet.

If you don't know how much you weighed pre-pregnancy, I'd find out now. It's normal to put on a few pounds during the 1st trimester but remember that everyone varies and you have to do what you have to do. I had great plans to eat really healthily once I got pregnant but that went out of the window when the sickness hit - I was eating more doughnuts than spinach! However, I still lost weight everywhere but my boobs and bump as my metabolism went up so much. I don't think there are really hard and fast rules about this.

occupational hazzard of pg I think. I always put on near a stone in the first trimester then it slows down. Usually end up 2 stone up, a stone to lose after birth, doesn't seem anyway round it for me - if I dont eat I keel over.

I put on half a stone in the first trimester which was a bit gutting initially as I had lost 21lbs shortly before getting pg. admittedly, some of the weight was suddenly-giant DD tits and bloating. But my pre-preg lean protein, fruit and veg diet went out the window and all I could really deal with was boiled eggs, marmite toast, peanut butter and milk and tomatoes - what I ate as a small child! No veg, except frozen peas, no fruit unless I forced it down...

Am now 14+2 and as if by magic, my appetite has regulated and I am eating nice healthy normal things again, and much more variety. Chicken, fish, salads and stir fries and fresh fruit are all enticing again - 4 weeks ago they made me want to hurl.

I reckon it all evens out in the ned

..in the ned? in the end, even

Thanks, that's made me feel alot better. I can't wait for this wretched nausea to go, I really want to eat "normal" food. My fiance is cooking lasagne tonight, I will see how a bit of that goes down.

Hi,I am bloated every day which is extremely unusual & gassy(not pleasant!!),boobs were sore for unusually extended period but now seem ok again,.also very tired.2 days ago felt like my period was going to start but nothing and I am now 3 days late - I am NEVER late!
did test this afternoon and it was negative.

I'm just under 14 weeks and put on 6 pounds so far. I have also been eating a lot of junk due to sickness and not being able to face cooking, but although I am still having sicky days it is slowly easing and I am starting to fancy fruit and veg again.

Twixie - not sure, but maybe retest again in a day or so?
