Hi, I'm going on holiday to France when i'll be 30/31 weeks pg. Is there anything i should be doing? I don't think my current annual travel insurance covers me at all... do i have to buy special insurance? I gave birth at 36 weeks last time, so am a little bit nervous about the timing...

many airlines have a cut off point in pregnancy. check and make sure you're not past yours.

i seriously doubt you'll be able to find any travel cover, but if you do, it's going to ££££.

Make sure you have a European Health Card as well as very good travel insurance - and make sure the travel insurance covers your family/OH's expenses in case of issues while abroad (e.g. hotel bills, getting home costs, etc).

You'll need a letter from your doctor to be able to fly at that point (and with your history I would ask about it now as they may say no way). Also, if you're flying, I wouldn't recommend going economy TBH.

Make sure you know how to contact a doctor at your destination and where the nearest hospital is.

Company that will insure pregnant women for travel up to 36 weeks here. I've not used them myself but seen them recommended on MN before. I don't know how they'll react to your early delivery last time.

Some airlines don't ask for a medical note for short-haul, and just let you on until you are 36 weeks, but irrespective I would have thought you would want to discuss the travel with your GP or midwife because of when you delivered last time.

For what its worth, I was flying every other week to Germany (for work so insured through them) up until 31 weeks this pregnancy - worst bit was the long distances to walk at the terminals with early SPD!

Thanks all

we're not flying, so that is one less thing, but i will check out that insurance company, thanks!

coudn't go any earlier due to DH work committments... i'm starting to worry a bit now.
