Hi All,

I'm planning to take my driving test and have booked it for the earliest possible date available... which is in two months when i'll be 35 weeks 6 days pregnant...

Has anyone else taken a test this late?

Has anyone passed? :p

xx

Yep, took mine at 38 weeks.

That was my eighth attempt. I failed it and went on to pass on the tenth go.

I passed on my third attempt at 32 weeks (3 weeks ago!).

I had previously failed when 13 and 19 weeks pregnant.

soniaweir · 16/06/2010 19:40

i was 37 weeks and hit the kerb doing a reverse park and failed but i took it again when i was 9 weeks with DC2 and mentioned that i was pregnant. i hit the kerb doing a reverse round the corner and i passed! you never can tell!

good luck!

DomesticG0ddess · 16/06/2010 19:40

I passed when I was 7 months, so 30 something weeks, but not as late as you. It was my second attempt - the first had been years before and I hadn't been ready, so I treated it as if it was my first go. Good luck!

Little Silver, good on you for keeping going, i'm absolutely dreading it already, I hate driving but think it will make life a lot easier when I have my baby!

I suppose it kind of answers my question as to if they are inclined to go easy on you because of a massive bump being in the way :p

I passed on my 3rd attempt at 35 weeks.

LittleSilver · 16/06/2010 20:02

Well, I kept wincing and shifting on my seat in the hope that would help, but no joy! Good luck!

ChunkyPickle · 16/06/2010 20:21

I was going to take mine, but I can't fit behind the wheel and still reach the pedals properly :S

but then I'm a shorty.

PickleSarnie · 16/06/2010 20:44

Best of luck! I cried irrationally throughout my lessons so I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like with crazy preggo hormones!

japhrimel · 17/06/2010 12:34

How big are you now? You shouldn't drive if you have to squeeze behind the wheel, but it depends on how long your legs are and the configuration of the car more than anything. Our car's pedals are well under the wheel and I have short legs, so no way will I be able to drive at 35 weeks, but you may well be completely different.

DomesticG0ddess · 17/06/2010 12:59

The examiner asked me "would you be confident driving your new baby around", which I thought was a good thing to ask. I said yes, after all, I was already driving my new baby round - just inside! I felt it made me a more careful driver, but luckily was not over cautious at the same time. Didn't help to see someone blatantly failing in front of me as they messed up in front of me. I also found that I started off really well, and got more nervous as the test went on, just to bear in mind. Make sure you have water with you and have had plenty to eat beforehand - take snacks as you have a lesson first, then your test.

moominmarvellous · 17/06/2010 14:47

I took my test 2 weeks before my due date with DD.

It was my 4th attempt and although physically there was no problem, I was just soooo desperate to pass before the baby arrived. However, in my case I failed I really built it up for myself and remember blubbing on my own in the darkened living room for ages afterwards! It was the end of the world!

I passed just under a year later though and had those first few months of walking to help shift my pregnancy weight and show off my nice new pram! So there's your silver lining!

Good Luck!

poppy283 · 17/06/2010 15:36

I'm learning and hate it, I've just found out that there's a 3 month waiting list for practical tests so I won't be taking a test before the baby's born (I'm 31 weeks) which takes the pressure off a bit.

My main worry is that I won't be able to bring myself to actually drive even after I pass my test, as I just feel so nervous of it

withorwithoutyou · 17/06/2010 15:43

Was going to say I did mine when pregnant but I was only about 20 weeks.

Still passed though

withorwithoutyou · 17/06/2010 15:45

Also, if you're confident about taking it sooner you can probably get a cancellation -I got one on about 2 weeks notice.

i failed my test(first attempt) two weeks ago.i am now 29 weeks pregnant and planning to take the test again.i have one concern though..i wonder if anyone else had the same problem? the first time i took the test, I could really read the number plate too properly thought otherwise i have never worn glasses. my instructor helped me and i was lucky to have read it correctly in front of the examiner as it still did not seem too clear to me. i know it has probably got something to do with pregnancy hormones as my eyesight has always been ok otherwise.now im worried what if im not so lucky next time. the examiner would not consider that im pregnant.if i can't read it he will surely fail me!!!
what to do? :(

bigstripeytiger · 01/10/2010 20:45

Have you had your eyesight checked out at the opticians?

EccentricaGallumbits · 01/10/2010 20:49

did mine at 16 weeks. just been let out of hospital with hyperemesis. at one point just before my 3 point urn i had to stop and puke.

i did pass though. just couldn't have the strong drink i needed afterwards.

2boysandbean · 01/10/2010 21:01

I passed at 16 weeks too 2 hours before a genetics scan and spent the hour before the test emptying my guts up lol :)

dairymoo · 01/10/2010 21:08

I passed mine at 34 weeks pg with twins, who were born at 35 weeks! Good luck!

splashy · 01/10/2010 22:07

I took mine at 39 weeks pregnant, poor man seemed worried I would go into labour during the test!

He was very nice but I did fail.

AbiAbi · 02/10/2010 09:40

I passed mine at 33 weeks, yesterday! It was my third attempt and took a LOT of rescue remedy to calm me down beforehand.

melpomene · 02/10/2010 09:45

My mum had her driving test when heavily pg with me (not sure exactly how far along). It was damp weather and the inside of the car's rear window was misted up, so the examiner made her reach through to wipe it clean which she found to be the hardest part of the test!

Lovemylulu · 04/10/2010 12:47

I failed mine for the first time when I was 11 weeks and am booked to take it in 6 weeks when I will be 24 weeks... really hoping I pass this time as I don't think I can be bothered to keep trying after that! Not until after the baby is born anyway!
Good luck though!
