Me too; I'm having to alternate lying down days with getting up days in order to cope with the pain in my swollen feet -- yesterday I cleaned the house from top to bottom in preparation for LO's arrival, and my feet were purple by the end. It's my hands I'm more worried about though; I can't squeeze things or pick things up without being in agony cos they're so swollen. Weirdly typing is OK though.

Ah this is the one benefit of being pregnant the second time round or more - perfect excuse to have kids paddling pool set up all the time and they just love pouring water over mummys big fat feet

I bought a shiny new silver washing up bowl to put mine in have put mint leaves and witch hazel in it too, mainly just for interest!
I have to say as a first timer I really thought pregnancy was slightly more glamourous than this!

Mine were like that for about a week before I went into labour. Best thing I found was aqua natal - lots of movement in cold swimming pool. My legs halved in size after my first aqua natal class. Sadly, first class was also my last as I went into labour that evening!

I`m finding swimming helpful too-i go most nights but lqst night the head was so low i didnt dare risk it !
Mint ect in a bowl sounds nice.
I tried anti embolic stockingfsw and they made it worse.
Put my feet up on pillows at night and they just squash into whatever position i lie in !
Higher than your heart they say ! LOL-thats ok if you havent got 3 other children a husband and worked until 39 weeks !
Bugger i feel so selfish for saying this but i am soooo fed up now. I want my body back x

39 weeks, and think it may be the heat that has made my feet treble in size over the past two days?
They look ready to burst !!
Doesn't help that a horse stood on my toes yesterday, so my left foot is bruised and cut, as well as fat and swollen !!
OUCH !!!

Valbonne09 · 22/06/2010 17:24

Oooh - I had to start doing this at about 12 weeks as I swelled with water retention right away. Heaven! Had to buy a bigger bucket though

anyabanya · 22/06/2010 18:04

Oh yes mine are the same. They feel as if the flesh underneath the skin is trying to burst out, and they are purple too!

del1, my DH accidentally stood on my foot yesterday and THAT caused terrible pain! A horse standing on them... i shuddder to think.

I do not know HOW to get my feet up anyway, as you are not supposed to lie on your back!

del1 · 23/06/2010 14:01

Yes, a week o and my feet are still fat and swollen.
I am also still feeling sorry for myself about the horse incident, and still telling everyone that will listen !!

37 weeks, so hot, 3year old curled up asleep on me (even hotter), 4 year old wants to make a fish mobile, I would like to be immersed in an ice cold bath.

ProzacTheGiggleFairy · 23/06/2010 18:06

I'm only 20 weeks & am needing the cold water treatment on my feet.
With DS1 & DS2 I had terrible swelling, so I have made good use of the baby bath that I have been given recently. It's a great size to dunk feet in.

Haggisfish · 23/06/2010 22:49

Do you know I did dunk my feet in tub of cold water and tea tree oil - it was soooooo lovely! I have also draped a wet towel over myself and had seceral cold showers. I note with some dismay it is due to get hotter over the weekend - am not sure I can survive! Any other cooling tips, let us know! I have the spray of water, cold towels, cold water bottles and dunking feet. And fridge pyjamas.
