ill people, is my mum being paranoid?

My mum keeps canceling on me every time she has a cold incase I get ill. Today she's told me not to come over forfree food for a visit because her DP has some kind of infection on his ear!

I know that if I do get a cold then I won't be able to take much for it but it's irritating me now! I work with hundreds of people every day and could be picking up loads of different lurgies!

I do appreciate she's just looking out for me but is she being a wee bit over the top? I'm 14 weeks now.

Yes, over the top! A cold won't do you any harm, the only irritating thing is you can't take any decongestants.

Sounds OTT to me. If it's just a cold I wouldn't even expect anyone to bother mentioning it to me. If anything more serious, I would expect them to mention it and then let me make the decision on whether to visit, not to tell me not to!

You're not exactly going to be snuggling up close to her DP are you?

DuelingFanjo · 15/06/2010 15:19

to be fair, the thing her DP has is some kind of fungal thing on his ear and he's been given something usually used to deal with the herpes virus so maybe today's case is a bit more serious but I want my free food dammit!

I am wondering just how she is expecting you to catch her DPs ear infection. That's a pretty hard thing to catch off someone else!

DuelingFanjo · 15/06/2010 16:18

the doctor says it's a virus so am thinking it is probably air-bourne?

I promised not to touch it but still no free food [dad] [wink
