When did you get a real bump?

Hello all, I am almost 19 weeks and still don't have much of a bump. I am quite slim but just have a small curve in my stomach just above my pubic bone but that is it. I thought I would be showing by now.

Mind you - at night when I am bloated or after I have eaten I look like I am 8 mths pregnant. Then it's flat again in the morning...

I haven't felt any movement either. Hopefully the next few weeks will bring some progress!

I am exactly the same. Im 19 weeks and 3 days but apart from a small curve in my tummy, I have no real bump at all. Its really getting me down. I want a bump and I want to feel pregnant.

I am also slim - size 8/10 dress and 5 foot 6.

To make things worse, went for a blood test this morn and the nurse taking my blood called a load of her colleagues over and they all stood around pointing and staring at me saying ''Are you sure you're nearly 5 months pregnant??'' ''Doesnt look like theres a baby in there to me!''

Thanks! As if I wasnt already bothered enough by it!

I know they say you show quite late with your first, but coz Im so slim, I really thought I would show by now.

I go to bed every night with my fingers crossed that I'll wake up with a bump!

nymphadora · 15/06/2010 14:07

Doesn't show as quickly with your first but I'm pg with dc3 and have a decent one at 22 weeks

CuppaTeaJanice · 15/06/2010 14:10

I'm tall and slim too, and my bump appeared on Christmas Day, after the turkey, so I must have been around 22 weeks. Don't worry, yours will show soon.

On the plus side, I figure that the less time your skin is stretched over a bump, the less likely you are to get stretch marks, and the quicker your tummy should return to normal size after the birth. That's just my completely unscientific theory though!!!

RunningGuerita · 15/06/2010 15:17

I was the same and then around 22 weeks or so the bump popped out! Before that I just looked like I had eaten a big meal and looked bloated and it was quite low down. But I've been told your uterus rises and then it has nowhere to go, so pops out. Literally overnight people started offering seats on the train and strangers asking me when I was due...

IWillNotNeverEatATomato · 15/06/2010 15:29

CuppaTeaJanice - I am afraid that I didn't have much of a bump until the last 10 weeks or so when it grew so rapidly that I had huge stretchmarks. I think that the opposite is true if your skin stretches gradually than you might be less likely to get stretchmarks.

With my first I didn't wear Maternity clothes until I was about 7 months pregnant,
but with number 2 I was in maternity clothes before the 12 weeks scan!!

Missus84 · 15/06/2010 15:32

Not til around 22/23 weeks.

DomesticG0ddess · 15/06/2010 16:20

I have had a bump since 16 weeks, but it is my second. Ladies, do not wish you had a bump - soon enough you will be massive and uncomfortable and wishing it was smaller!! People will always comment whether you are big, small or completely average; it's just what people like to do, ignore them!

emmyloo2 · 15/06/2010 16:29

I would just like to have a bump to stop the awful bloating I am getting which just makes me look and feel fat. I figure a bump is better than feeling porky....or will I just feel porky with a bump!

That's annoying you are still so bloated, mine calmed down around 14/15 weeks I think. But yes, you can still be bloated with a bump. It will show soon!

emmyloo2 · 15/06/2010 16:50

Mine has calmed down but I suffered from terrible bloating pre-pregnancy because I have IBS. It's just the bloating plus bug boobs and bit of weight gain is getting me down. I am hoping getting a proper bump will make me feel less fat and more pregnant...

I was 22 weeks with my first pg and the bump literally appeared overnight. I had a huge baked potato one night which left me really bloated that night but the next morning it hadn't gone down and it never did!
I'm now 17 weeks with my second and have a huge bump already.

Hope you all get your bumps soon, it is nice to have something to pat

addictedisalmosthalfway · 15/06/2010 17:07

i'm 19+5 and mine appeared around 18 weeks, just over night, i went to bed just looking slightly over weight with a muffin top and woke up with a definite bump shaped tummy. dont worry it will come.

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/06/2010 17:29

not until about 21 weeks and no one else really noticed until 23/24 weeks. depends on a few things, or so I've heard, like whether it's your first baby or not and how strong your abdominal muscles are to begin with.

was glad to see the bump though, felt kind of bloated and chubby before it had some definition. now at least everyone asks me when I'm due instead of discreetly averting their eyes from my expanding waistband

Cosmosis · 15/06/2010 17:36

Oh not till well after my 20 week scan, I can remember being paranoid because I wasn?t really showing, but the sonographer said it was totally normal not to. I know at about 25 weeks I mentioned being pg and the person I was talking to was very surprised, so I can?t have been showing that much then either. I had thought as I?m small and skinny I would show early, but not at all. I?m 30 wks now and still not massive.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 15/06/2010 19:52

I don't really have anything at 18 weeks and am soooooo paranoid about it. I have rung the midwife twice and she did try and be reassuring but I could tell she was laughing about it a bit.

I am quite overweight so it has more room to hide but I am still in all my normal clothes even though so feel a tiny bit tight at times, it seems to change from day to day somehow, sometimes they fit, sometimes they feel a bit snug. It doesn't help when you compare yourself to other people who seem to have HUGE bumps.

notnowbernard · 15/06/2010 19:54

DC1 - about 18w

DC2 - about 10w

DC3 - about 6hrs post-conception

Rinnyx · 15/06/2010 19:56

I'm about size 8-10 and 5' 4"
With my first I didnt show til about 6 months and then all of a sudden it was pop now with my 2nd, I was showing by 3 months and now at 19 weeks I look like I did a 6 months with DD.
I didnt think it was true when people say you show sooner with #2, 3 etc

Chelle1986 · 16/06/2010 10:23

I have a bump now at 26 weeks - its coming on quite nicely! lol.

Started showing at about 22 weeks and up until now I've wanted to carry a sign around with me that says:

"Its not too many pies! I am Pregnant!!"

addie81 · 16/06/2010 15:42

I am expecting DS1 and I started to show at around 16 weeks, but not a proper bump - you could see my tummy protruding when I lay down but it was still totally hideable. I gradually grew until about 22 weeks. Now 24 weeks and bump is very much present and impossible to hide.
